The CAD Technician II, skilled and detail-oriented, provides drafting and design support for projects within the power engineering industry. This mid-level role requires proficiency in CAD software, a strong understanding of design standards, and familiarity with industry-specific drafting practices related to power generation, transmission, and distribution systems. Working under moderate supervision, the CAD Technician II contributes to the preparation and development of engineering drawings, schematics,
and layouts that support safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
What you will do:
- Develop detailed 2D and/or 3D drawings using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or other CAD software as required
- Interpret design concepts and sketches from engineers or architects into accurate technical drawings
- Update existing drawings based on design changes or field data
- Maintain drawing standards and ensure compliance with project requirements and company procedures
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, project managers, and other technicians to ensure designs meet specifications
- Perform quality checks on drawings for accuracy and completeness
- Assist in preparing construction, manufacturing, or permit documentation packages
- Organize and manage electronic and hard-copy drawings and documents
- Participate in site visits or field verifications as needed
- Data and document entry into various platforms
- Scanning, copying, and filing documents
- Reporting safety, health, and quality issues to management
- Assist management on special projects as directed
- Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions on simultaneous assignments
- Other duties as assigned
Who you are:
- High School Graduate or associate’s degree
- 3 to 5 years of CAD experience in an engineering or construction discipline
- MicroStation and AutoCAD experience required
- Proficient in multiple CAD systems. Proficient in AutoCAD and/or other industry-standard design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, MicroStation)
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and drafting practices
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read and interpret engineering/architectural drawings and specifications
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and relevant project management software
- Knowledge of project management or document control systems (e.g., Bluebeam, Autodesk Vault, SharePoint).

$30.91 - $36.78 an hourThe actual base pay depends upon many factors, such as education, experience, and skills.
