Senior Software Engineer at Kaleris

About the Role

You will work with a team of domain and carrier management system experts to design, build and continually improve an integrated, end-to-end system that transforms how international container shipping companies operate. As a member of our team, your expertise will contribute to the successful development and deployment of mission-critical functionality for our carrier customers

Responsibilities

Collaborating with Product Management, Business Analysis, Professional Services and Quality Assurance teams to delivery highly efficient features and functionality
Taking ownership of a product feature and drive design, code, and feature reviews
Ensuring the technical integrity of a development, in accordance with the clients’ requirements
Identifying and developing solutions for bug fixes and changes to our range of applications
Acting as a technology authority in short or long-term planning, making recommendations on technical approaches within an overall program
Providing advanced technical support and advice to others on engagement/program during proposal writing, solution design and implementation
Providing first-hand supervision and guidance to Software Engineers on assigned activities
Some international travel to customers and our other offices may be required

Requirements

BE/BTech/MCA/MSC IT preferable
5+ years of professional experience in software development
Highly proficient in Java and solid understanding of full stack development
Experience with Git version control, and hands-on experience with continuous integration systems
Java development - Proficient in Java (version 8 or higher), confident maintaining/creating backend applications with heavy business logic.
Microservice architecture - Experience in building and maintaining microservices (ideally Quarkus/Gradle).
JUnit/Groovy testing - Experience testing features during development, edge cases as well as expected behaviour
NoSQL dtabases (e.g. Mongo) – Proficient in the use of NoSQL databases
SQL - Proficient in writing and optimising SQL queries for data management and reporting.
Problem Solving/Debugging - Solid analytical skills for resolving production issues. Analysing logs, debugging code across microservices

Strong knowledge/experience with Object Oriented methodologies, design patterns, application architecture
Strong understanding of application software, scalability, performance, and reliability aspects
Hands on experience in relational database modelling & queries
Highly experienced with software development processes, and in particular, software design and unit/integration testing
Experience in converting user/business requirements into technical solutions
Highly motivated individual, who is ready to accept challenges, continually innovate, learn, and help others
Ability to work in a fast paced, test-driven, collaborative, and iterative programming environment
Ability to coach and mentor junior members in the team
Ability to work with cross functional teams
Fluent in written and spoken English

Preferred Requirements

Experience with open-source frameworks such as Hibernate a plus
Experience working on an offshore team of developers is a plus
Kubernetes - Experience using Kubernetes systems
Jasper Reports - Experience in designing reports/maintaining complex reports with custom business logic.
Kotlin development - Competent in writing/maintaining Kotlin code ensuring clean and efficient implementation.
