The Safety Specialist position requires a highly organized and dedicated safety specialist to support our growing safety team. This role will play a key part in streamlining day-to-day operations, managing safety data through online safety platforms, and ensuring accurate documentation across field activities.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive communicator, comfortable working with cross-functional teams, and interested in growing their career in safety or operational support.
- Provide day-to-day support to the Safety team.
- Maintain records in the safety platform and serve as the safety system lead.
- Generate and manage reports related to safety metrics, observations, audits, and field activities.
- Act as a liaison between the Safety and Claims/Workers’ Comp teams, ensuring clear documentation and timely communication.
- Work closely with the Human Resources to ensure onboarding processes align with safety policies and procedures and federal and state OSHA regulations.
- Track safety certifications, compliance training, and incident logs.
- Create engaging safety training and engagement materials.
- Assist with scheduling safety meetings, training, and follow-up items.
- Support communication efforts by preparing professional emails, summaries, and presentations for leadership.
- Must understand and able to apply industry-standard safety concepts.
- Exposure to safety-related processes or documentation a must.
The ideal candidate will embody the following characteristics and possess the knowledge, skills and abilities listed below:
- Honest, trustworthy and reliable.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Degrees/Certificates: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
- OHST, GSP, STS or ASP certification is not required but will be taken into consideration.
- Must have a general knowledge of state and federal OSHA regulations.
- Safety or HR experience in a field-based or utility/construction environment preferred but not required.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Travel up to 20% required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Be willing to participate in training/certification programs for safety as directed.
