Purpose
Responsible for inspecting and monitoring parts to ensure good quality parts are produced. Lead and or support area in continuous improvement efforts. Ensure quality products are delivered to customers and address customer concerns and issues. The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.

Set-up and check dimensions on parts, using metrology instruments, to ensure parts meet quality standards and that dimensions are accurateAudit Control Plans and FMEA’sAssist in the development, distribution and implementation of Quality AlertsPerform acid etch and mag particle tests on prescribed basisLead a group of employees, oversee work activities and engage in various forms of communication and judgment.Train employees in proper procedures and job skills.Enter data into the computer from paper documents for record keeping purposesCheck, sort, and file paperworkRed tag and create repair orders for non-conforming partsInterface with the Quality Manager to address quality issuesResolve customer issues at the customer levelAbility to act as liaison between the company and the customerAssist in the development of Control Plans, FMEA’s and 8D’s Monitor first & last piece approvals for conformancePerform gage studies and capability studiesProblem solving.Continuous improvement activities support Red X / DOE activitiesVarious other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required with completion of established curriculum and/or demonstrated understanding of skills.Two – Four years of quality experience Competencies
Ability to follow established proceduresStrong attention to detail Knowledge Statistical Process Control (SPC); GD&T with application and blueprint reading.Must be able to operate basic metrology instruments, optical comparator, hardness tester and Coordinate Measurement Machine.Calibration of equipment gages.Knowledge of welding specificationsProblem SolvingPerform sorts, audits or rework productsKnowledge of product and processesKnowledge of Quality standards – AIAG/ASQC, ASME, AITF16949Communication skills to communicate and interact with all levels of employees, customers and suppliersComputer skills and math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as requiredAbility to work effectively with peopleLicensure
Valid driver’s license
Supervisory Responsibility
This position leads a group of quality inspectors and/or rework activities and is responsible for the performance management within that group.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.

The job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities. Travel to customer locations as needed.
