Anika Systems is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support a federal contract in the Washington, DC area. The selected candidate will contribute to the success of a cross-functional IT communications team, supporting efforts across enterprise architecture and IT governance initiatives. This role is responsible for producing a wide range of documentation including system and process documentation, technical guides, developer-facing resources, and user support materials.
This position is partly on-site in the Washington, DC area. Candidates
must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full lifecycle of operating systems for servers, PCs, Macs, scanners, and printers.
- Oversee preventive maintenance contracts for application software and hardware assets.
- Ensure compliance with hardware and software security policies.
- Collaborate with the help desk team to diagnose and resolve customer technical issues.
- Work with vendors to coordinate hardware/software support, maintenance, upgrades, and documentation.
- Stay informed on vendor procedures and upcoming upgrades that may impact current systems.
Legacy System Modernization Support:
- Inventory legacy business applications and associated databases on standalone systems.
- Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processing, including data cleansing and transformation.
- Support data migration efforts to platforms such as Salesforce or Oracle applications.
- Manage and support the decommissioning of legacy applications and underlying databases.
- Develop and implement data archiving strategies using Adobe tools and Apple Macintosh systems, ensuring proper file naming conventions and compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience in IT systems administration, technical support, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Oracle Developer Suite 11g, SQL*Plus 11g, and TOAD (Tools for Oracle Application Developers).
- Familiarity with Erwin Data Modeler for database modeling and documentation.
- Strong knowledge of ETL processing, data transformation, and data archiving techniques.
- Experience with Salesforce data integration and Oracle-based application environments.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, hardware, and enterprise software across both Windows and Apple environments.
- Experience working in Apple Macintosh environments for technical data handling, archiving, and documentation support.
- Understanding and application of naming conventions for modernization and legacy system decommissioning.
- Ability to work effectively with vendors to manage support and upgrade processes.
- Familiarity with IT security compliance standards and best practices.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
