About the Role:


As a Data Operations Specialist, you will be a key contributor to the accuracy and integrity of our Rates application, a critical component of our logistics platform. You will be responsible for the end-to-end management of rail and truck pricing authorities, translating complex transportation regulations and contracts into actionable data within our system. This role demands a high degree of precision, a proactive approach to data management, and a strong understanding of transportation industry terminology and practices.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Rates Authority Management:
  • Interpret, analyze, and convert public and private rail and truck pricing authorities into the required format for entry into the Rates application.
  • Accurately configure and input rate data, ensuring compliance with carrier agreements and industry standards.
  • Proactively identify new or updated rail and truck authorities from various sources and ensure their timely integration into the Rates application.
  • Perform regular audits and updates to existing rate data to maintain accuracy and consistency.
  • Data Quality & Integrity:
  • Ensure the highest level of data quality and integrity within the Rates application.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify and resolve any data discrepancies or system-related issues affecting rate accuracy.
  • Industry Expertise:
  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of US rail and truck transportation regulations and pricing structures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in rail industry terminology, including but not limited to Freight Service Codes (FSC), Standard Transportation Commodity Codes (STCC), and various authority types.
  • Operational Efficiency:
  • Utilize MS Office tools (Excel, Word, etc.) efficiently for data manipulation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Support the continuous improvement of data entry and management processes within the team.
  • Collaboration & Learning:
  • Actively participate in discussions with internal teams (Product, Engineering, Operations) to clarify requirements and provide data insights.
  • Exhibit strong learning curiosity and adaptability to manage and maintain data for other applications or product areas as business needs evolve.

Required Qualifications:


  • Proven experience in a data entry, data operations, or logistics support role, preferably within the transportation or supply chain industry.
  • Demonstrable expertise in US rail and truck transportation pricing authorities and regulations.
  • Solid understanding of common railroad terms such as FSC (Fuel Surcharge Codes), STCC (Standard Transportation Commodity Codes), and other relevant industry acronyms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and management.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for data organization and analysis.
  • Highly self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to independently research, identify, and process new rate authorities.
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and ensuring data is current and accurate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
