Role Overview


As the Grant and Partnerships Manager at STATION TEXAS, you will be the driving force behind our grant strategy—identifying, pursuing, and securing funding that empowers us to support the most exciting deep tech startups in Texas. You’ll work closely with leadership and funders to craft compelling proposals for projects in sectors like aerospace, biotech, defense, energy, robotics, and artificial intelligence. Responsibilities


Grant Identification & Pipeline Building


  • Proactively research and track federal, philanthropic, foundation, and industry funding opportunities (e.g., ARPA-H, NSF, DoD, DOE).
  • Build and maintain a prioritized pipeline of grant opportunities aligned with STATION TEXAS’ strategic initiatives.

Proposal Development & Submission


  • Lead the full grant lifecycle: research, concepting, writing, editing, budgeting, compliance, and submission.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to gather necessary data, narratives, letters of support, and financials.
  • Tailor grant applications to fit funder priorities while preserving the STATION TEXAS voice.

Reporting & Compliance


  • Track and manage all reporting deadlines and compliance requirements post-award.
  • Partner with leadership and finance teams to submit accurate and timely financial and programmatic reports.
  • Ensure adherence to IRS, federal agency, and foundation policies.

Strategic Contribution


  • Align grant-seeking efforts with organizational strategy and initiatives in partnership with the Executive Director.
  • Support collaborative grant submissions with universities, regional accelerators, and corporate partners.
  • Coordinate efforts with STATION DC on federal and policy-aligned opportunities.

Success Looks Like


  • You’ve created needed marketing and program collateral within 30 days.
  • You’ve built a pipeline of at least $10M in unrestricted grant and related funding opportunities within your first month.
  • You’ve secured $1M in unrestricted grant funding within 12 months.

Requirements


About You


  • 5+ years of experience in grant writing or institutional fundraising; experience with innovation, tech, or government grants preferred.
  • Proven success securing $1M+ in competitive funding from government or major foundations.
  • Expert storyteller with the ability to turn complex ideas into compelling, fundable proposals.
  • Deep knowledge of federal funding (DoD, ARPA-H, NIH, NSF, DOE, SBA) and Texas-specific funding ecosystems.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Highly mission-driven with a passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and regional economic growth.
  • Responsive, deadline-driven, and flexible to work evenings/weekends when needed.
  • Tech-savvy and organized—email inbox at zero, strong with G Suite, CRM tools, and password security.
  • Intend to stay in Texas for at least two years.
