DevOps Engineer Description


Beast Code is searching for a seasoned DevOps Engineer to help project teams find balance between agility and stability as it relates to development and deployment of our software into both our environments as well as customer environments. To join our team, the DevOps Engineer must be a master of Kubernetes and Helm with well-earned confidence on the command line and have a solid understanding of software engineering principles. You’ll be working with a mixed team of engineers focused on the deployment of our software and the refinement of the software for deployment into myriad environments.

The DevOps Engineer should be a confident communicator and comfortable collaborator who can work closely with Cybersecurity, IT Operations, and Software Engineers in a team atmosphere to create new environments and features — and maintain existing ones — for developers and customers alike. For this team, the DevOps Engineer must be a strong communicator capable of holding technical discussions both with other engineers as well as non-engineers. The DevOps Engineer must also possess a strong practical knowledge of configuration management using cloud-native, open-source tools, and software engineering techniques/methodologies. Experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines (GitLab) is another skill our DevOps Engineer should possess.

A typical day may include the following:


• Working with a project team to refine development tools (pipelines, devdeployment environments), or deployment configurations (Helm Charts)• Deploying Beast Core software to customer environments (cloud, on prem, air gapped, the list goes on….)• Working with internal and external stakeholders to plan deployments• Collaborating with project architects and teams to ensure projects are easily deployable• Attending daily standup meetings and other agile ceremonies• Managing workloads using project management tools

• Kubernetes• Docker• Terraform• GitOps• Knowledge of source control systems (Git, GitLab)• Competence in Bash scripting• Experience securing networks, servers, and applications• Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, network routing, and subnets• Functional understanding of Software Engineering principles• Basic reading comprehension of either Typescript or C#

Bonus points if you have:


• Experience in Cybersecurity, IT System Administration, Web Development,and/or DevOps• Experience deploying software into customer-owned environments• A firm grasp on Cloud infrastructure technologies (AWS, Azure)• Familiarity with the following DevSecOps Technologies/Concepts:• Configuration as Code (CaC)• Security as Code (SaC)

Pay Bands:


DevOps Engineer I: $73,400.00-$98,700.00DevOps Engineer II: $93,100.00-$123,300.00DevOps Engineer III: $117,700.00-$148,300.00DevOps Engineer IV $133,700.00-$166,400.00DevOps Engineer V: $152,100.00-$190,400.00 DevOps Engineer I Works on projects and matters of limited complexity in a support role where work is actively managed. Typically requires 0-2 years of industry experience. DevOps Engineer II Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.

Typically requires 2-4 years of related experience.DevOps Engineer III Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Expected to take the initiative to improve development projects and infrastructure. Contributes to complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 4-7 years of related experience.DevOps Engineer IV A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. Typically requires 7 years minimum of industry experience. DevOps Engineer V Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in “solution” or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Typically requires 10+ years of related experience.

  • Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations
  • Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
