Software Development Engineer – Test (SDET) III
Who is Beast Code?
Beast Code began in 2014 as a small group of friends with a dream to transcend the traditional defense solution paradigm. Today, we are a workforce of approximately 200 beasts headquartered in Fort Walton Beach and driving the next wave of software development and technology on the Emerald Coast of Florida. Our projects are increasing as we build better solutions for industrial and commercial organizations.
SDET Description
Do friends describe you as innovative and creative? Are you looking to push the status quo and create industry disrupting software? As an SDET III at Beast Code, you’ll be part of a team charged with creating code designed to inspect, stress, and sometimes break our software to ensure that it is the best that it can be. Are your skills up to challenging what our development teams bring to the table?
Your day-today will look something like this:
- Creating automated tests from test cases
- Communicate resolution of problems and plans for new features
- Provide flexible, maintainable, and reliable solutions
- Identify architectural improvements and make large-scale changes
- Work with dev teams, QA analysts, and fellow SDETs on QA automation practices
- Serve as a technical subject matter expert on automated testing
- Create documentation
You should bring these skills to the table:
- 2+ years’ experience programming in Python or JavaScript
- Experience with Selenium web driver
- Comfortable with Playwright
- Bachelor’s degree in a CS-related field or comparable experience
- Familiarity with Software QA practices
- Familiar with API testing (postman, Python Requests, etc.)
- Experience in working with data in a SQLite database
- Be an independent learner in a task-oriented environment
- The desire to thrive in a collaborative team setting
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Bonus points if you have:
- International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification
- Kubernetes experience
- CI/CD pipeline configuration (GitLab, YAML)

Software Engineer - Test I: $68,200.00 - $82,200.00Software Engineer - Test II: $84,300.00 - $102,000.00Software Engineer - Test III: $104,000.00 - $125,300.00Software Engineer - Test IV: $124,100.00 - $147,800.00Software Engineer - Test V: $144,200.00 - $175,500.00SDET I Works on projects and matters of limited complexity in a support role where work is actively managed. Typically requires 0-2 years of industry experience. SDET II Exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function and occasionally require direction in aspects of their work.
Typically requires 2-4 years minimum of industrySDET III May direct one or more junior level SDETs. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Expected to take the initiative to improve development projects and infrastructure. Contributes to complex aspects of a project. Typically requires 5 years of related experience.SDET IV A specialist on complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. Typically requires 7 years minimum of industry experience. SDET V May provide consultation on complex projects. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in solution or project goal terms. May project leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Typically requires 10 years of industry experience.
Other Requirements:
- Due to the nature of our work, it is mandatory that you are a U.S. Citizen and able to comply with Government regulations
- Successfully complete background check and maintain a valid USA driver’s license
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
- Beast Code is a drug free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing as per all applicable laws
