Nice to meet you! I’m Milja Valentine, a Senior Talent Acquisition Partner at LeadDesk. Together with Inka Laakso, our Head of People, we’re looking for a People Operations Partner to join our People team in Helsinki.In this role, you’ll take ownership of how our payroll and compensation processes work in practice across multiple countries and entities. You’ll be the link between our employees, managers, finance, and local external payroll partners, making sure everything runs accurately and smoothly, while continuously improving over time.You’ll join our collaborative and welcoming People team where you play a central role in making sure payroll and compensation work reliably and transparently in everyday life.

What you can expect as a People Operations Partner at LeadDesk


This is a hands-on role combining operational ownership with continuous development. You’ll be part of an agile team where no two days are the same, owning payroll and compensation processes end to end in close collaboration with external partners.

  • Acting as the main point of contact for payroll related matters internally and with external payroll partners
  • Ensuring accurate payroll inputs across the employee lifecycle, from onboarding to offboarding
  • Coordinating payroll processes across multiple countries, entities, and compensation models
  • Managing compensation elements such as monthly salaries, hourly wages, bonuses, and commission structures
  • Coordinating commission and bonus processes together with Sales and Finance, ensuring correct data flows into payroll
  • Supporting managers and employees in salary and employment related questions
  • Managing employee benefits and insurance processes across different countries
  • Acting as the main user for our HR system Sympa and other systems
  • Interpreting and applying collective agreements in Finland and Sweden
  • Developing and improving payroll and people operations processes, with a focus on automation and scalability
  • Depending on your interests, you’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in broader HR topics and projects

  • You’ve become an integral part of our People team and built strong cross-functional relationships
  • Payroll processes run reliably and smoothly across countries, with clear ownership and communication
  • Managers and employees know where to go and get clear answers to payroll related questions
  • Key processes are better documented and less dependent on manual work
  • You’ve identified and started improving the biggest pain points in our current setup
  • Salary, bonus, and commission processes are more automated, streamlined, and consistent
  • You’ve added value beyond payroll by contributing also to wider HR initiatives

Must-haves


This could be a great next step for you if you already have a foundation in payroll and are looking to take more ownership in a broader, more complex environment.

  • Experience working with payroll processes, including variables salary elements
  • Ability to manage complex processes with multiple stakeholders and dependencies
  • Strong attention to detail and a clear sense of ownership
  • Comfortable working in an environment where not everything is fully ready yet, with a proactive approach to improving it
  • Interest in developing processes and improving ways of working over time
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams like HR, Finance, and Sales
  • You work fluently in Finnish and English, both written and spoken

Nice-to-haves


  • Background in a consulting environment or payroll services is considered an advantage
  • Experience working with HR systems and driving the development and improvement of system-based processes
  • Experience working in an international company or across multiple countries
  • In addition to Finnish and English, proficiency in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, German, or Spanish is regarded as an asset.

Practicalities


  • Location: Helsinki HQ (hybrid work model 3 days a week at the office)
  • Work permit in Finland: Required
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Employment: Full-time, permanent
  • Salary: 4000–4500€/month + additional performance-based bonus (approximately 1000€ per quarter)
