Seeking an Electrical Technician Intern for summer 2026 at our lumber manufacturing facility in Bemidji, MN. This internship is a great opportunity to work alongside professional staff and leaders in the field of industrial maintenance within a fast-paced environment where you will get hands-on experience.The hourly rate of pay for this position is $23.56.Job Description:


Interns are matched with a mentor to assist in their training and development. The mentor will guide the intern as they develop an intimate understanding of the mill's equipment, processes, and maintenance flow in a manufacturing environment.  Internship will include job shadowing, general safety training, and exposure to all aspects of electrical theory and application in a real-world setting.  Hands-on experience / projects include:


  • Completing electrical preventive maintenance work orders.
  • Test, install, and troubleshoot AC/DC circuits.
  • Exposure to and working with motor starters and VFDs (variable frequency drives).
  • Learning basic functions of a PLC (programmable logic controller).
  • Introduction into process controls and integrating.
  • Learning basic knowledge of a manufacturing production facility.

Requirements: 


  • Must be enrolled in the electrical construction program at Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, MN and have completed one year of the program.
  • Must have an understanding of basic electrical theory.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products and basic computer usage.
  • Ability to work and interact with a variety of people in a professional and positive manner.
  • Able to climb and descend stairs, ladders, catwalks at elevated levels, and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of working in an industrial setting subject to hot, dusty, cold, wet, and dirty environments on occasion.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule.
