2nd Shift_Lead, Laboratory Technician

 Purpose 


This position is responsible for the overall performance of their shift.This includes running specific laboratory equipment and testing samples daily that requires a specialized knowledge of processes.Responsibilities also include minor lab equipment maintenance and repair, supervision of lab employees, movement of employees to facilitate proper workflow.

Essential Functions 


  • Help facilitate a “team environment”
  • Approves overtime
  • Tracks attendance (Breaks/Lunch)
  • Manages end of shift and safety checklists
  • Manages QC paperwork
  • Manages teams production goals
  • Train new and existing lab personnel
  • Inspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment
  • Direct and plan lab employee workflow
  • Monitor and facilitate daily production
  • Perform daily routine lab analysis
  • Observe and read instrumentation to determine operating conditions during testing
  • Assist in safety training and compliance
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications and Requirements 


  • Wear personal protective equipment as required
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
  • Self-starter/Ability to work independently
  • Ability to act in a leadership role in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Computer literate
  • Basic mathematics skills
  • Lift or move up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to distinguish between colors
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Work in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to petroleum products, fumes, odors, mists and dusts
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff or 1 year supervisory experience

Safety Requirements 


  • OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety.At POLARIS Laboratories, when going through the Laboratory it is required that you wear eye protection.
  • Team members will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE.POLARIS Laboratories provides the required PPE.It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly, to your Manager.
  • To ensure safety throughout the facility, all employees are required to maintain up to date HAZMAT, OSHA, RCRA, Methylene Chloride, and General Laboratory Safety training as defined within the POLARIS Quality System.

4pm-1230am. 22 To 24 (USD) Hourly
