Pay Range: $22.43- $30.05

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Day Center Program Manager, performs typical laundry tasks (washing and drying) as a service to members of Chief Seattle Club. Meeting the needs of the members with hygiene supplies in a friendly customer service driven fashion is a must. Additionally, the laundry needs of the facility will be met by this position (kitchen towels, member towel and such). Monitoring the area and keeping a safe and healthy work environment is expected. This position also requires facility maintenance.
Essential Job Functions:
- Follow all Laundry Service Policies & Procedures.
- Must be assertive yet courteous.
- Prepare clean towels and personal hygiene products each day (i.e. soap, shampoo, conditioner, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, etc.)
- Wash and Dry Member clothing. Have Members sign-up on laundry list and fill out Laundry Slip listing all items to be laundered. Provide the members with a type of temporary clothing (i.e. robe) if needed.
- Wash, dry, and fold towels for the following shower day.
- Maintain neat, organized and clean hygiene and laundry areas.
- Sanitize and dispose of items left behind in Member Showers after each use and at the end of each shift.
- Utilize a daily log list for usage of: Showers, Laundry & Supplies/Hygiene Products.
- Encourage Members to assist in bathroom/shower clean up throughout each day.
- Monitor the bathroom use for any suspicious activity.
- Once the Hygiene station closes for the day, the employee will work on maintaining light janitorial and general labor tasks such as replacing light bulbs, repairing fixtures, and assisting fellow employees with heavy loads. The Shelter Services Director and Program Manager will assign tasks as needed.
- Maintain active engagement in promoting a safe work environment by following safety procedures and participating in required safety trainings relevant to this role.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
:
Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Licenses/Certifications:
CSC will provide training in Bloodborne Pathogens and CPR/First Aid certification upon hire.
Technical Skills & Competencies:
- Ability to provide quality customer service
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Skills in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Soft Skills:
- Ability to handle complaints and conflicts in a professional manner
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Preferred Qualifications
:
Awareness of the concerns and priorities of American Indians/Alaska Natives and homeless individuals
Physical Requirements:
There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Most positions at CSC are exposed to members of the community who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to: domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma. Employees are encouraged to seek external support and maintain self-care when working indirectly or directly with clients.
