Location: RemoteCompany: Happy ReturnsEmployee Type: InternDuration: Summer (10–12 weeks)Team: OperationsHappy Returns is seeking a strategic, data-driven MBA Summer Intern to join our Operations team. This remote role offers the opportunity to drive significant financial and operational impact by optimizing transportation costs and transit performance through data analysis and tool development.

What You’ll Do:


  • Analyze Data: Deep-dive into shipment configurations, warehouse locations, and/or carrier costs to understand how we can work more efficiently.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work with other members of the Operations team to understand current tools and status quo and become familiar with the opportunities to optimize transportation costs and/or transit time performance.
  • Build an MVP Tool: Create a working tool (like a script or a dashboard) that organizes data and highlights “red flags” or savings opportunities.
  • Create a “Runbook” and Necessary Documentation: Write clear, step-by-step instructions with documented rules / heuristics used by the tool so that Operations can continue to use your tool after your internship ends.
  • Present to Leadership: At the end of the summer, you’ll be able to present your findings and recommendations to Happy Returns leaders.

Who You Are:


  • Education: Currently enrolled in a full-time MBA program.
  • Meticulous & Analytical: Strong analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to interpret data and use that understanding to drive recommendations. Demonstrates a high level of rigor and attention to detail in auditing complex datasets to identify discrepancies or opportunities.
  • Strong Communicator: Skilled communicator, both written and verbal, adept at explaining complex technical ideas in a way that is easy for anyone to understand.
  • Interest: Interested in data analytics, logistics, and/or transportation strategy.

Requirements


:


  • Experience: Background in data analytics, logistics, and/or transportation
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate to advanced SQL for relational datasets and proficiency in Python or R for data processing. Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables and basic modeling).

Basic Qualifications:


  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer.
