Are you ready to lead and scale a complex, fast-moving supply chain in a highly regulated industry? Mood is seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Operations to lead all facets of Mood’s end-to-end supply chain and operations function as Mood continues to rapidly scale and transform.
In this role, you will be responsible for building resilient systems, leading high-performing teams, and evolving Mood’s product portfolio and fulfillment models to enable growth in existing channels and to support new channels and product categories. End-to-end supply chain ownership will include responsibility for all sourcing, vendor management, manufacturing, distribution, fulfillment operations, and quality.. A key strategic advantage and differentiator for Mood is that it operates its own light manufacturing, warehousing, and fulfillment center of excellence in Charlotte, NC.

The VP of Ops will be based at this facility and will manage warehouse leadership, the Director of Manufacturing and Product Operations (not local), and the Senior Manager of Supply Chain (based in Charlotte). Mood sells primarily through the Direct to Consumer (DTC) and Wholesale channels (both to retailers and distributors), and the VP of Ops will have purview over all operating channels. The VP of Ops will report directly to the CEO. This is a highly visible leadership team role that partners closely with other cross-functional leads including Digital, Strategy, Finance, Data, Marketing, and Sales.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:


Operational Leadership & Supply Chain Evolution


  • Be responsible for end-to-end supply chain execution and lead the team members executing across the different functional areas.
  • Lead the Charlotte warehouse and restructure its operations (both in terms of assets, layout, and staffing) to improve flexibility, efficiency, service, and financial performance
  • Develop and execute scalable supply chain strategies aligned to company growth, margin targets, and customer experience goals.
  • Support and execute company-wide strategic initiatives.

Inventory, Demand Planning, Forecasting, and Performance Accountability


  • Own demand management and planning processes, ensuring alignment between revenue forecasts, supply constraints, and inventory targets.
  • Establish and manage target inventory levels, turns, projections, and inventory optimization strategies across all product categories.
  • Continuously improve forecast accuracy, service levels, and inventory velocity while managing working capital risk.
  • Report and actively drive key supply chain performance metrics, including inventory turns, days on hand, fill rates, forecast accuracy, and service level attainment.

Beverage Supply Chain Development


  • Partner with the Director of Manufacturing and Product Operations to help secure and scale all aspects of the Beverage supply chain, from raw material sourcing (shifting this in-house), to manufacturing, to transit to 3PLs, to LTL/FTL freight to customers.
  • Help the leadership team understand how the Beverage supply chain will need to evolve over time, and the staffing and resources needed to support planned growth.
  • Benchmark Mood’s Beverages offerings vs. competitors and develop/execute plans to close any gaps and to deliver large-scale and profitable innovations.

Quality & Compliance


  • Lead and develop the Quality & Compliance team responsible for ensuring Q&C from sourcing through manufacturing and in terms of route to market sales channels.
  • Guide the team in developing quality & compliance KPIs and management dashboards.
  • Develop quality benchmarking capabilities, prioritize gaps, and own plans to address.

Supplier Strategy, Cost Management, and Risk


  • Oversee the Senior Manager of Supply Chain and the Vendor Management and Procurement Lead to ensure the S&OP process is running smoothly and that Mood is strategically sourcing and managing inventory.
  • Assess supply chain risk on a rolling basis and help set prioritization for vendor changes, major purchasing decisions, and when to run lean on specific inventory stocks.
  • Ensure any Mood manufacturing activities are strategically planned and efficient.
  • Support the Senior Manager of Supply Chain in complex vendor negotiations and help manage difficult vendor situations, taking the lead on any true crisis scenarios.
  • Ensure the team maintains contingency sourcing and risk mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity in a regulated environment.

Compliance & Operational Risk Management


  • Ensure all supply chain operations meet regulatory and compliance requirements across applicable markets.
  • Maintain audit readiness, lot tracking, COAs, recall processes, and documentation standards.
  • Partner closely with Compliance and Legal teams to proactively manage regulatory changes and operational risk.

Systems, Standardization, and Operational Excellence


  • Ensure our supply chain systems and tools, including ERP, WMS, and forecasting platforms, are well designed to support the companies’ operational needs, and develop future plans for how Mood’s ops systems and capabilities should develop over time.
  • Implement and enforce standard work, operating rhythms, and planning cadences to drive predictability, consistency, and scalable execution.
  • Drive process documentation, SOP development, and operational transparency to reduce key-person dependency.

What You’ll Bring to the Team


  • 15+ years of progressive experience structuring, scaling, and leading complex supply chains including a mix of owned and contracted operating facilities.
  • Proven experience owning end-to-end supply chain functions in a high-growth or regulated environment.
  • Exceptional executive presence and ability to lead and develop teams while leading by example and facilitating strong cross-functional communication across the organization
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to align supply chain decisions to P&L objectives.
  • Ability to organize and guide insights and innovation activities from ideation to execution
  • Deep experience structuring and leveraging ERP systems to standardize and scale operations and associated data
  • Demonstrated success driving inventory performance, including turns, service levels, and working capital optimization.
  • Proven ability to deliver results through both direct reports and cross-functional partners outside of formal reporting lines.
  • Experience applying continuous improvement, Lean, or operational excellence methodologies in complex environments.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in fluid, fast-paced organizations.
  • Experience in cannabis, hemp, alcohol, spirits, or other regulated consumer goods is strongly preferred.
