Petrophysicist

DESCRIPTION:

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform comprehensive petrophysical analysis of offshore reservoirs, both clastic and carbonate systems
• Evaluate open-hole and cased-hole well logs (e.g., LWD, wireline) to determine lithology, porosity, permeability, fluid saturation, and net pay
• Develop and maintain robust petrophysical models for multiple play types, including thin bed / low resistivity pay zones and complex lithology
• Integrate routine core data, SCAL, mud logs, image logs, and other advanced log data into comprehensive formation evaluation workflows
• Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and reservoir engineers to build static and dynamic reservoir models
• Support well planning and real-time operations by advising on logging programs, tool selection, and data acquisition strategies
• Responsible for QC and acquisition of well data including LWD and wireline in real time.  This includes down hole pressure measurements, and fluid / rock sampling programs.  This role requires supporting operations outside of regular business hours.
• Provide input into field development planning, including reservoir quality prediction and fluid distribution
• Participate in post-well reviews and capture lessons learned to improve future operations
• Ensure adherence to company standards, industry best practices, and data quality control procedures

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Petroleum Engineering, Physics, or a related field required
• Minimum of 10+ years of petrophysical experience, with significant offshore project exposure
• Experience working in deepwater environments and complex depositional settings
• Preferred experience with HPHT reservoirs in deepwater Gulf of America or other offshore basins

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Strong understanding of formation evaluation techniques in complex geological environments
• Proficiency in industry-standard petrophysical software (e.g., Techlog, Interactive Petrophysics, Geolog)
• Experience integrating advanced logging tools (e.g., NMR, elemental logs, formation testing)
• Familiarity with core analysis, rock physics, and reservoir characterization workflows
• Experience with cased hole log interpretation (e.g., cement bond logs, casing inspection, pulsed neutron logging)
• Knowledge of pore pressure and fracture gradient prediction workflows
• Programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, C#, or similar) for workflow automation and data analysis
• Understanding of uncertainty quantification and probabilistic methods
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills in complex geological settings
• Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Ability to work under pressure in high-stakes, high-cost environments
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
• Adaptability in dynamic and evolving work environments

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
