Happy Returns is seeking a thoughtful, user-centered UX Design Summer Intern to join our Design team. This remote role offers the opportunity to shape intuitive, high-impact experiences across our returns platform, working at the intersection of e-commerce, logistics, and retail. You’ll collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and operations teams to design solutions that improve both customer and partner experiences.
What You’ll Do:

User Research:
Conduct user research (interviews, usability testing, surveys) to understand customer, retailer, and operations pain points across the returns journey
•
Experience Design:
Create wireframes, user flows, and high-fidelity designs to improve key product experiences across Happy Returns’ platform
•
Prototyping:
Develop interactive prototypes to test and validate design concepts quickly
•
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Partner with Product, Engineering, and Operations to translate business requirements into intuitive user experiences

Design Systems:
Contribute to and leverage existing design systems to ensure consistency and scalability across products
•
Data-Informed Design:
Use qualitative and quantitative insights (user data, behavioral metrics) to inform design decisions and iterate on solutions
Who You Are:
•
Education:
Currently pursuing a degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Psychology, or a related field (undergraduate or graduate)
•
Design Thinking:
Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and problem-solving frameworks
•
Communication:
Able to clearly articulate design decisions and present work to cross-functional stakeholders
•
Collaboration:
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote, cross-functional environment
•
Curiosity:
Passionate about improving user experiences and interested in e-commerce, logistics, or retail technology
Requirements:

Portfolio:
A portfolio demonstrating UX/UI design work, including process (research, ideation, iteration)
•
Tools:
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma (preferred), Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
•
Research & Testing:
Familiarity with usability testing, user interviews, and synthesis of insights
•
Bonus:
Exposure to design systems, interaction design, or data-informed product design
