Full-timeDescriptionThe Assistant Manager of Logistics for the Gift Shop will oversee receiving operations. The position must have a strong understanding of the Garden's core mission and exhibitions. In addition to helping incorporate existing merchandise into new themes, other duties include analyzing sales, advance planning, processing orders, and receiving shipments. The position oversees the Logistics Associate to ensure that all new orders, invoices, and shipments are processed correctly. They also manage the offsite warehouse to ensure accurate inventory control and tracking.
In partnership with the shop management, this position works to ensure an excellent guest experience, successful annual inventory, and smooth daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and place purchase orders in TAM (inventory management system), and track to ensure the product is received properly
- Contact vendors to report damages or missing products
- Present a pleasant and welcoming attitude when interacting with guests on the sales floor
- Build positive and long-term relationships with vendors
- Conduct annual inventory in collaboration with other managers
- Manage the organization of merchandise in the warehouse and stockroom
- Organize and rotate back stock in the warehouse and stockroom for easy replenishment
- Coordinate placement of shipments from truck deliveries
- Work closely with the managers to ensure efficient flow of goods to the sales floor
- Ensure all Purchase Orders are completed efficiently and accurately in a timely manner
- Ensure merchandise is properly tagged, secured, and coded per company guidelines
- Accurately transfer product between both Atlanta and Gainesville warehouses
- Code and log invoices for approval
- Manage Logistics Associate on a daily basis to ensure time is being used adequately
- Schedule and perform weekly cycle counts
- Maintain all organizational, cleanliness, and recovery standards in the storage units, warehouse, and stockroom
- Ensure compliance with recycling and, where applicable, hazardous waste programs
- Ensure adherence to all labor laws, policies, and procedures
- Support and participates in inventory shrinkage reduction goals and programs
- Support maintenance of a risk-free environment
- Fills in for Gift Shop Assistant Manager as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Attend management and leadership meetings, and education training when scheduled
Requirements
- Ability to supervise staff members
- Minimum 2 years of retail logistics experience
- Experience with inventory management software preferred
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Required to walk often and stand for long periods of time
- Occasionally required to bend, lift or climb
- Often required to lift moderate weights (25-40) pounds
- Must have a valid US driver license
