About the Opportunity:


In this role, you will ensure that every refinance transaction moves smoothly from preparation to closing. You will review documentation, resolve title and tax issues, coordinate with legal and operational teams, and conduct closing ceremonies that provide borrowers with a professional and reassuring experience.This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, detail-driven environments and enjoys working at the intersection of real estate, compliance, and customer service.You will play a critical role in delivering an exceptional borrower experience while ensuring every file meets legal, regulatory, and secondary market standards.

As a Real Estate Paralegal, you are the professional ensuring that each transaction is completed with precision, transparency, and care. Your work helps deliver a smooth closing experience while safeguarding the legal and financial integrity of every loan.

Responsibilities:


Prepare Transactions for Closing


  • Review refinance files and complete comprehensive pre-closing package reviews to ensure compliance with legal and secondary mortgage market requirements.
  • Verify documentation accuracy and completeness prior to scheduling closing.

Conduct Post-Closing File Reviews


  • Review refinance files returned from external settlement agents and witness-only closings.
  • Communicate with third parties to correct documentation and resolve discrepancies.

Resolve Title Issues


  • Review title requirements and take proactive steps to ensure clear title prior to closing.
  • Resolving borrower judgments, unreleased liens, securing private mortgage documentation, subordinating second liens, and facilitating mechanics' liens documentation.

Verify Real Estate Tax Status


  • Confirm real estate tax information for refinance files.
  • Prepare and validate tax certifications to support loan closing.

Lead Borrower Closing Ceremonies


  • Conduct refinance closing ceremonies with borrowers, guiding them through documents and answering questions to ensure clarity and confidence.

Coordinate Cross-Functional Closing Activities


  • Work closely with refinance attorneys and loan operations team members to keep closing timelines on track.
  • Ensure all parties remain aligned so transactions close smoothly and on schedule.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Licensed Notary Public, or willingness to become licensed within the first 30 days
  • Prior experience in real estate, mortgage lending, or another government-regulated industry preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical judgment
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and perform effectively in time-sensitive situations
