Position Summary


The SBA 7(a) Loan Servicing Manager is responsible for the ongoing administration, monitoring, and servicing of Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) loans. This role ensures compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), lender policies, and regulatory requirements while delivering excellent service to borrowers and internal partners. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of SBA lending guidelines, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple loans throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities


  • Service a portfolio of SBA 7(a) loans from pre-closing through post-payoff, including payment collection and application, account maintenance, and borrower communication.
  • Physical inspections of underlying collateral (nationwide travel required).
  • Coordination with legal, accounting, management, and other real estate professionals for handling of complex servicing matters including filing of lawsuits, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and asset/REO management and disposition. 
  • Monitor loan performance, track covenants, ad valorem taxes, hazard and liability insurance, franchise requirements, collateral documentation, and ticklers to ensure compliance with SBA SOPs and internal policies.
  • Process loan modifications, deferments, assumptions, and servicing actions in accordance with SBA guidelines.
  • Coordinate with borrowers, relationship managers, and credit teams to obtain financial statements, tax returns, and other required documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of SBA-required reports, including 1502 reporting, and ensure timely and accurate submissions.
  • Assist with SBA guaranty purchase packages, servicing requests, and liquidation support as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records in loan servicing systems and document management platforms.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and explanations.
  • Research and resolve borrower inquiries related to payments, balances, escrow, and loan terms.
  • Identify potential risk issues and escalate concerns to management promptly.

Qualifications


  • 3–6+ years of experience in commercial loan servicing or SBA lending operations.
  • Strong understanding of loan documentation, collateral, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to aggregate and analyze large datasets.
  • Proficiency with loan servicing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of SBA 7(a) loan program requirements and SBA SOP 50 57 4 (or current SOP version).
  • Experience preparing SBA guaranty purchase or liquidation packages.
  • Knowledge of E-Tran and SBA One systems.
  • Experience in a bank, credit union, or SBA lending institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or related field.
