The ideal candidate will act as the de facto lead for the Sustainment and Reliability Support Agile Release Train (ART), providing leadership and direction to a multidisciplinary team responsible for system sustainment, operations, reliability, and continuous improvement of mission-critical HR systems. This role requires a proven leader with experience in IT operations, sustainment support, service management, and cross-functional coordination within complex Federal environments.
The Team Lead will oversee day-to-day operations while ensuring system stability, performance, and ongoing enhancements.The position supports the operational baseline across both NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments and plays a vital role in maintaining service continuity while enabling modernization efforts and future cloud migration. The Team Lead will collaborate closely with Government stakeholders, Solution Train leadership, Agile Release Trains, and cloud migration teams to manage dependencies, mitigate risks, and ensure reliable service delivery aligned with SAFe 6.0 principles.As a key member of the SFI team, you will contribute to delivering mission-critical capabilities to Federal Government customers while guiding multiple teams through sustainment, modernization, and cloud transition initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage an IT operations or technical team, providing direction, mentorship, and performance oversight.
- Ensure team delivery of high-quality IT services aligned with SLAs and government requirements.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team supporting IT operations, sustainment, service management, and production support for systems in NIPRNET and SIPRNET environments.
- Coordinate team activities across Enterprise Services, Help Desk Operations, training support, and maintenance functions, including task assignments, workload balancing, and schedule adherence.
- Oversee and improve IT Service Management (ITSM) processes, including incident, problem, change, configuration, and release management.
- Identify and resolve operational issues and escalate complex problems as appropriate.
- Develop and maintain team documentation, including SOPs, runbooks, and operational guides.
- Guide Tier I and Tier II Help Desk operations and ensure timely resolution or escalation of operational and technical issues.
- Lead preventive, corrective, adaptive, and perfective maintenance activities to sustain system reliability, availability, and performance.
- Conduct team meetings, performance reviews, and professional development activities.
- Develop and maintain team documentation, including SOPs, runbooks, and operational guides.
- Report on team performance metrics and operational status to program leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in IT operations, application sustainment, production support, systems reliability, or similar technical environments
- 3+ years of experience leading technical, operations, or sustainment teams in a Federal Government or similarly complex environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in: IT support operations, ensuring system reliability, security, and efficient service delivery while leading and guiding the IT team.
- Experience managing production support or sustainment efforts for enterprise applications or mission-critical systems.
- Experience coordinating across multiple stakeholder teams, managing dependencies, and maintaining continuity of operations in a dynamic environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must possess an active Secret security clearance or be able to obtain one.
Desired Skills:
- SAFe Scaled Agile
- ITIL Foundation, PMP, or equivalent leadership/operations certification.
- Experience leading IT operations teams within DoD or federal agency programs.
- Familiarity with ITSM processes and service management best practices.
- Familiarity with NIPRNET and SIPRNET operational support requirements and Government-directed toolchains/access controls.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft HCM, PeopleSoft CRM, and Oracle DB.
- Experience with agile team management and DevOps practices.
Additional Information:
- Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Work Environment: Onsite/Hybrid/Remote as required by the contract.
- This is a full-time, W2 position.
