InternshipDescriptionAccelerate LineVision's data platform modernization while building hands-on experience with cloud-native data engineering in the energy sector. The successful Data Engineering Co-op will support the migration of LineVision's data infrastructure to our modernized cloud platform, working directly with our Platform Engineering team to consolidate databases, migrate data pipelines, and modernize our data architecture. What will you do?
Core Responsibilities and Key Performance Objectives
- Implement data lineage tracking across our data pipelines to improve visibility into data flow and transformations
- Evaluate and prototype different datastore solutions (time-series databases, data lakes, graph databases) for specific use cases
- Build data quality monitoring and observability tools to increase control over data accuracy and consistency
- Design and implement data cataloging solutions to improve data discoverability and documentation
- Create proof-of-concepts for new data architecture patterns that support our growing data platform needs
- Document data flows, schema designs, and architectural decisions to build institutional knowledge
What do you need to succeed in this role?
- Proficiency in SQL to write queries for validating data migrations, troubleshooting schema inconsistencies, and ensuring data integrity across environments
- Python skills to debug migration scripts, automate data validation tasks, and build data quality checks
- Experience with AWS cloud services (S3, Glue, Athena) to replicate data pipelines, test migrations, and support business intelligence infrastructure
- Understanding of basic data engineering concepts to work with dimensional data modeling, database design, and layered data architecture
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with Quality, Finance, Sales, and Leadership teams on data requirements and migration validation
- Technical documentation ability to capture migration processes, create validation scripts, and build reference materials for the team
Work Schedule
The ideal candidate would be available for a minimum of 6 months, up to the full 8 month co-op term, working 40 hours a week. LineVision has a standard US holiday schedule, and up to a week of additional unpaid time off is permissible. Upon successful internship or co-op completion, you will be considered for a full-time position upon graduation.Compensation: $25 per hour
