About Century Therapeutics:
Century Therapeutics (NASDAQ: IPSC) is a biotechnology company advancing a pipeline of induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-derived cell therapies with the potential to meaningfully address autoimmune diseases, including type 1 diabetes, and cancer. The company’s therapies are derived from its iPSC cell foundry and leverage its novel immune evasion engineering technology, Allo-Evasion™. Century believes its approach to developing off-the-shelf cell therapies will expand patient access and provide advantages over existing cell therapies which will ultimately advance the course of care.
Role:
Century Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Associate to join our Beta Islet Differentiation team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of our T1D CNTY-813 cell therapy by executing and optimizing differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) into functional beta islets. You will play a key role in refining differentiation protocols and driving analytical characterization of cell populations, with a strong emphasis on flow cytometry, qPCR, and ELISA-based readouts.
This position is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in stem cell biology who enjoys experimental optimization, data generation, and assay execution in a fast-paced environment. The expected salary range for this role is approximately $110,000 - $118,000 depending on experience. Additional benefits offered include but are not limited to an annual performance-based bonus (prorated by start date), medical, dental, and vision insurance, matching 401K plan, and 20+ days per-year of PTO (prorated by start date). Requirements
- Perform routine culture, maintenance, and differentiation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs).
- Design and execute experiments to optimize beta islet differentiation protocols for improved efficiency, reproducibility, and cell quality.
- Conduct analytical characterization of differentiated cell populations, including: Multi-color intracellular flow cytometry for phenotypic profiling, quantitative PCR (qPCR) for gene expression analysis, and ELISA for functional assessment.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, generating clear and reproducible datasets to support program advancement.
- Maintain accurate and detailed experimental records in electronic lab notebooks.
- Present data and contribute to scientific discussions within the team.
- Support lab operations, including inventory management, reagent tracking, and ordering of materials.
- Draft, review, and update experimental protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure adherence to established protocols and quality standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to support CNTY-813 program goals.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in a relevant biological field with 2–6+ years of industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with iPSC culture and differentiation (beta islet experience strongly preferred).
- Strong experience with flow cytometry, including intracellular staining and data analysis (e.g., FlowJo).
- Strong experience with qPCR, including assay setup and data interpretation.
- Experience with ELISA or other functional assays.
- Strong data analysis and experimental troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Requirements:
- Experience working with stem cell-derived islet differentiation.
- Experience with suspension culture differentiation formats.
- Experience with multi-color intracellular flow cytometry.
- Experience with assay development.
