Position Summary:
As the IT Laboratory Services Manager, you will be the bridge between our R&D lab operations and our IT infrastructure. You will contribute throughout the full lifecycle of laboratory information systems, participating in strategic planning and implementation to hands-on administration and technical support.The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a background in both laboratory sciences and IT, who can manage our lab systems, drive strategic improvements, and ensure our scientific teams have the tools they need to accelerate drug discovery and development.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
These may include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with R&D leadership to understand scientific workflows from early discovery through preclinical stages.
- Develop and execute a roadmap for laboratory systems, including Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), and instrument data management platforms.
- Assess and recommend new lab technologies and software that align with the company's research objectives.
- Serve as the primary system administrator and technical expert for all lab-related software and hardware.
- Oversee the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and validation of laboratory systems.
- Provide expert-level support to end-users, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure system uptime.
- Ensure data integrity and security within all laboratory information systems.
- Oversee data collection, processing, and analysis workflows to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Develop comprehensive tools and strategies for leveraging raw data for strategic decision-making.
- Act as the main point of contact between R&D, IT, and external vendors.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to upgrade or implement new laboratory systems.
- Manage project timelines and resources, communicating progress and challenges to stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for lab systems.
- Ensure all systems and data management practices comply with relevant regulations, such as Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and GxP standards.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance (QA) for system validation and audit readiness.

Education and Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) or Computer Science.
- 8+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, with 3+ years in a lab management or lab systems administration role. Alternatively 6 years of experience with a Master’s degree may be considered.
- Proven experience supporting R&D teams in early discovery and preclinical activities within a biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
- Strong proficiency in administering Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN), and other scientific software.
- Demonstrated experience with instrument integration, data pipeline management, and validation.
- Familiarity with database technologies and data visualization tools.
- In-depth understanding of drug discovery workflows, particularly in early-stage research and preclinical studies.
- Knowledge of GxP and other regulatory requirements for laboratory environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management capabilities.
- A proactive, creative, and strategic mindset for problem-solving and process improvement.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Activities: On a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time; intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 25 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate. Salary RangeThe salary range for this position is: $105,000 - $131,000.
