The Role
We’re looking for a Business Insights Manager to lead how insights are built, delivered, and trusted across Mood. Reporting to the VP of Data & Analytics, this role blends hands-on technical work with people leadership and cross-functional influence.You’ll manage a small, high-impact team (two analysts and one data engineer), own the quality and velocity of business insights, and serve as a primary interface between business stakeholders, analytics, and data science. Your mission: ensure decision-makers get fast, accurate, and actionable insights - without friction.This role is ideal for someone who is deeply technical, business-minded, and excited to both build and lead.
What You’ll Do
Analytics & Insights Leadership
- Own the delivery of business insights across growth, wholesale, finance, product, customer support, and operations.
- Translate business questions into clear analytical approaches, metrics, and reporting frameworks.
- Ensure insights are timely, accurate, and directly tied to business decisions.
- Partner closely with the VP of Data & Analytics to align priorities, roadmaps, and resourcing.
Technical Execution & Data Quality
- Remain hands-on with SQL (BigQuery) and BI tools to support complex analyses and unblock the team.
- Oversee the design, maintenance, and optimization of reporting pipelines and semantic layers.
- Collaborate with data engineering to improve data reliability, freshness, and metric consistency.
- Work with data science and ML teams to operationalize models and experimental outputs into reporting and decision workflows.
- Define and enforce standards for metric definitions, documentation, and data validation.
Team Management & Development
- Manage and mentor two analysts/reporting specialists and one data engineer
- Create a scalable operational framework & recruit more team members as the business scales
- Set clear expectations around quality, speed, and stakeholder communication.
- Support career development, skill growth, and best practices across the team.
- Balance hands-on contribution with coaching and review to maintain high execution standards.
Business Stakeholder Partnership
- Act as a primary analytics partner to business leaders across marketing, product, CX, and operations.
- Proactively surface insights, risks, and opportunities - without waiting for requests.
- Align stakeholders on KPI definitions, success metrics, and reporting expectations.
- Ensure insights lead to action by clearly communicating tradeoffs and recommendations.
Reporting & Data Stack Improvements
- Own initiatives to improve reporting speed, scalability, and usability.
- Identify gaps and bottlenecks in the current analytics and reporting stack.
- Scope, prioritize, and drive improvements focused on:
- Faster time-to-insight
- Higher data accuracy and trust
- Reduced manual reporting and rework
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Skills
7–10+ years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data-focused roles.Proven experience managing analysts and/or data engineers.Strong SQL skills (BigQuery required) and deep experience with BI tools (Looker Studio required; Tableau or similar a plus).Technical enough to review data models, SQL logic, and reporting pipelines.Experience working closely with data science teams and translating advanced outputs into business-ready insights.Strong understanding of ecommerce, DTC, or subscription business models (highly preferred).Solid foundation in statistics, experimentation, and performance measurement.Excellent communicator: able to bridge technical and non-technical audiences with confidence.Proactive, structured thinker who thrives in fast-moving environments.
