Position Overview
As an Electrical Control Panel Designer you will create panel layouts, wiring schematics, and bill-of-materials while ensuring designs meet UL508A requirements. You’ll work closely with engineers, project managers, and fabrication staff to produce accurate, buildable designs and documentation for custom and repeat panel builds.Key Responsibilities•Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and panel layouts for industrial control panels.•Create and maintain detailed BOMs, wiring lists, and manufacturing drawings.•Ensure designs comply with UL508A (required) and applicable electrical codes and standards.•Use AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical to produce accurate, consistent documentation.•Coordinate with mechanical designers, fabricators, and purchasing to resolve design and build issues.•Support quoting by creating accurate BOM’s and estimated design labor•Review and update drawings based on engineering changes and field feedback.•Assist with factory acceptance testing (FAT), wiring verification, and troubleshooting as needed.Required Qualifications•Proven experience designing control panels for industrial applications.•Strong working knowledge of UL508A requirements and experience applying them to panel design.•Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical (required).•Solid understanding of wiring practices, terminal blocks, wire numbering, cable management, grounding, and enclosure layout.•Ability to produce clear, manufacturing-ready drawings and documentation.•Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.•Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience; bachelor’s degree a plus.Preferred / Nice-to-Have•ePlan experience (a significant plus).•Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor starters, and common industrial control components.•Experience with UL listing process and documentation.•Knowledge of NEC/NFPA70 and other relevant standards.•Experience working with fabrication shops and understanding of wiring/testing processes.Our TeamIndustrial Automation Integrator and Supplier · 50 employees · Founded 1990Our goal is to provide the best solutions and services for our customers whether they are a small OEM or an Oil and Gas Titan.We offer a team of well-rounded, committed individuals striving to meet the needs of the ever-evolving world of automation.At-Will Employment Policy Statement: Your employment with Mission Controls & Automation is at-will, meaning your employment is for an indefinite period of time and can be terminated by either you or Mission Controls & Automation at any time, with or without cause or notice.We participate in E-Verify.We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
