Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Benefits Manager (Contract) to lead and execute high-impact benefits projects and program implementations. This role will focus on strategic, project-based work including new benefit program design and implementation, vendor transitions, process optimization, compliance updates, and system enhancements.This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on benefits professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, can independently drive initiatives from concept to execution, and partners effectively across HR, Finance, Payroll, Legal, and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end implementation of new benefit programs (e.g., wellness initiatives, voluntary benefits, savings and retirement programs).
- Manage vendor selection processes including RFP development, evaluation, and recommendation.
- Oversee vendor transitions, system integrations, and data migration efforts.
- Develop and execute detailed project plans, timelines, and communication strategies.
- Ensure alignment with organizational goals, budget, and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve benefits administration processes and employee experience.
- Evaluate market trends and benchmarking data to ensure programs remain competitive and aligned with business goals.
- Partner with Operations and IT Teams to implement system enhancements and resolve integration issues.
- Document workflows, standard operating procedures, and controls.
- Ensure data integrity and reporting accuracy.
- Develop employee-facing communications and educational materials for new or updated programs.
- Support change management strategies to ensure smooth adoption.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA).
- Support plan documentation updates, audits, and filings.
Qualifications & Experience
Required Experience
- 5–8+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration.
- Demonstrated experience leading benefits implementations or large-scale project work.
- Experience with vendor performance management.
- Experience with savings and retirement programs.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. benefits regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a fast-growth or transformation environment.
- Experience with Workday
- Experience supporting open enrollment strategy and execution.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and lookups (e.g., VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)
- Strong attention to detail and compliance focus.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal oversight.
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required.
- CEBS, CBP, PHR/SPHR, SHRM-CP/SCP or similar certification preferred.
