FLSA: ExemptJob Title: Senior Manager, Software EngineeringRole OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a team of 20+ engineers across onshore and offshore locations. This role is responsible for the delivery, stability, and modernization of our internal and external Claims Systems—platforms that are critical to delivering an excellent customer experience.The ideal candidate brings strong people leadership, deep experience with enterprise systems, and the ability to operate effectively across cloud and on‑prem environments.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a distributed engineering organization of 20+ engineers (onshore and offshore).
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate customer and operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Own the end‑to‑end delivery, reliability, and evolution of internal and external claims applications.
  • Ensure claims platforms support a seamless, reliable, and customer‑centric experience.
  • Oversee Java-based applications deployed across both cloud and on‑prem environments.
  • Drive engineering best practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code quality, and system observability.
  • Balance new feature delivery with technical debt reduction and platform modernization.
  • Ensure systems meet performance, availability, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Work closely with Product, Operations, Customer Experience, and Architecture teams to align on priorities and roadmaps.
  • Coordinate with vendors and offshore partners to ensure consistent delivery and quality.
  • Lead production incident response, root cause analysis, and post‑incident improvements.
  • Build a strong culture of ownership, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and career development for engineering leaders and individual contributors

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 4+ years in engineering management roles.
  • Strong experience leading large, distributed teams (onshore/offshore).
  • Deep knowledge of Java and enterprise application development.
  • Experience operating applications in hybrid environments (cloud and on‑prem).
  • Experience with Gen AI solutions (e.g., AI‑assisted development, automation, customer experience, or claims optimization) is a significant plus.
  • Proven success managing customer‑facing or transaction‑heavy systems.
  • Hands on Experience and familiarity with Gen AI is a huge plus.
  • Experience with claims processing systems or similar workflow‑driven platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
