Neapco is seeking a results-driven individual to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer. This position will report to the Lead  Manufacturing Engineer and is based at our Neapco Drivelines facility in Belleville, Michigan. It is extremely important this team member be aligned with Neapco’s Core Values of Partnership, Passion, Agility, Teamwork, Integrity, and Diversity, along with Neapco’s Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility goals and objectives. Manufacturing Engineer

JOB OVERVIEW:


The Manufacturing Engineer reports to the Lead Manufacturing Engineer.  As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, productivity, and product quality in your designated manufacturing cell(s). Your role will include designing, implementing, troubleshooting and overseeing production systems, ensuring that equipment and processes are operating effectively, and collaborating with other departments to support new product launches and day-to-day activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • The Manufacturing Engineer will oversee and manage all Manufacturing and Process Engineering activities, across designated manufacturing lines, related to the launch of new products, as well as address daily manufacturing requirements and needs.
  • Review component and product assembly prints with Product Engineering to ensure manufacturing feasibility. 
  • Develop specifications for new equipment and tools; write Capital Budget Requests. 
  • Redesign equipment and tooling to enhance efficiency, extend lifespan, and/or reduce total overall cost.
  • Develop fixture and tooling concepts, collaborating with designers and toolmakers for fabrication and testing.

  • Develop and maintain Production Validation Plans, Flowcharts, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Process Sheets, and all documentation required to satisfy the AIAG PPAP requirements.

  • Perform/review Measurement System Analysis on new or modified equipment and evaluate recertification requirements. 

  • Provide floor support for troubleshooting, corrective actions, and maintenance of equipment and fixtures during launches and daily operations.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for both internal and external issues.

  • Ensure documentation meets ISO/TS 16949 requirements.
  • Apply Advanced Design of Experiments, Statistical Process Control, Root Cause and Prevent Recurrence Analysis as needed.

  • Instruct and train hourly operators and new hires on the process steps and operational procedures.
  • Ensure equipment compliance with safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 


  • Knowledge of Friction and MIAB welding processes preferred.
  • Familiarity with Automation and Robotic cells.
  • Experience with Propshaft Assembly and High-Speed balancing is a plus. 
  • Experience in a high-volume automotive production plant is an advantage.
  • Competence with statistics and statistical software, such as Minitab.
  • Experience with design and modeling software such as: AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion, ProModel, etc.
  • Use of the Plan, Do, Check, Act discipline for continuous improvement. 
  • Knowledge of Six-Sigma methodology in problem solving.
  • Must be able to use the 8D problem solving approach to understand root cause and implement corrective actions. 

  • Strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft Office software suite.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Electrical disciplines.
