About Our Search
Our Durham team is looking for a strong Project Architect to join our Education Studio. Our next team member will have excellent communication, design, graphic and visualization skills. This individual will work closely with our national team to win, manage, design, organize and coordinate education projects located in North Carolina.
About Our Studio
Educational design is most effective when it actively supports and enriches school programs. Hord Coplan Macht’s designs have been informed by and are responsive to research, learning philosophy, community, and ultimately, the learners themselves. Spaces, both within and without, need to support the myriad of ways teaching and learning occur. Together, we work with our clients to integrate distinct programs and excellent design to create exceptional educational experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interviewing with Studio Leadership as a key project team member to support winning work.
- Maintains contact with clients, consultants, and contractors during all project phases, participating in marketing, client and owner presentations as requested.
- Develop a thorough understanding of projects’ design philosophy and provides input in developing a design and building performance strategy and effectively conveys this to assigned team members when appropriate.
- Seek creative and innovative design solutions and develop appropriate models, drawings, sketches, and documents to support these solutions.
- Advance the production of schematic, design development and construction documents in compliance with project scope, schedule, cost, and design intent.
- Actively collaborates with and coordinates work of consultants and knowledge resources to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the design concept and performance goals of the project.
- Contribute to the preparation of design documents and detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.
- Contribute to project’s technical design effort, subsequent detailed design development, project coordination and quality control efforts during all phases of project work, in close collaboration with the project manager and project designer.
- Performs construction administration duties (e.g. RFI’s, CCD’s change orders, etc.)
- Review shop drawings, material samples and CDs for conformance with design
Qualifications:
- 8 - 15 years of experience in the Architectural field.
- License required.
- Experience in Education sector, either PK-12 or Higher Education
- Demonstrated leadership and experience with successful project teams.
- Excellent design, graphic and presentation skills.
- Experience leading client meetings and sub-consultant coordination.
- Strong Revit skills
- Experience in preparing construction documents and leading construction administration activities.
- Strong knowledge of building codes and regulations.
- LEED and/or WELL Building credentials are a plus.
