Essential Functions
- Safely and efficiently operates the front-end loader to load bulk fertilizer into conveyor system for transport to trucks and/or rail cars
- Understands and follows logical sequence of loading and unloading trucks and rail cars and hand palletizing finished product
- Reads and understands warning signs, emergency procedures, product labels, shipping tickets, invoices, MSDS sheets, counts loads and assists with inventory
- Inspects machinery and equipment for safe operation prior to operating, performs preventive maintenance and repair as assigned and capable; ensures equipment is in good, working condition; reports any discrepancies to site leadership; follows all safety regulations and guidelines
- Maintains a quality and professional image with customers and is responsive to their needs
- Cleans work area and works carefully to avoid damage to product, plant, and equipment
- Cross-trains to fill other positions for off-season work such as forklift operator, bagging process participation and excavator operation
- Assists other plant/warehouse workers in various physical duties necessary in running an agricultural location
- May perform tasks normally assigned to other employees to ensure continuous operations
- Crane operator will work primarily on the crane loader and will require certification

Required Qualifications
- Specific position/site qualifications and progression may apply, consult with Human Resources
- Loader Operator-Entry level position; some related experience and/or training preferred
- Crane Operator-Requires crane operator certification
- Dock Worker-Requires barge and rail materials handling experience and/or training
- High School graduate or GED; may be offset by experience
- Experience working in a warehouse environment preferred
- Experience driving a front-end loader, forklift and other heavy equipment preferred
- Experience working with racking systems and loading/unloading pallets preferred
- Valid driver’s license preferred; must be able to meet a Motor Vehicle Review in accordance with Company policy

- Ability to ensure a safe working environment while performing assigned tasks

- Ability to be flexible in work performed and schedule
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills
- Trained or be able to operate lift truck, front-end loader, etc. as required
- Self-motivated and able to perform cleanup around the work area
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with team members and customers
- Applicants must also be able to demonstrate the following competencies: acts with integrity in products, processes, and relationships; delivers results efficiently & effectively; embraces role as an individual contributor to the warehouse team
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a warehouse or outdoor agricultural setting. Employee will regularly encounter extreme temperatures, adverse weather, dust, loud noises, and a hazardous agricultural and/or industrial environment that requires regular use of PPE.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Needs to stay in good physical condition to regularly lift more than 50 pounds, climb ladders, load and unload trucks, perform preventive maintenance activities, wash/rinse/clean tanks and hoppers, inspect machinery, and assist other plant/warehouse workers in various physical duties necessary in running an agricultural location. Employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, lift, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle, feel and grasp. Workload is frequently medium to heavy.
Travel
Travel outside of the assigned area is very rare.
