We also collaborate with partners on the development of TransCon-based products in other therapeutic areas and markets. We are seeking a passionate Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a member of the Ascendis Pharma team, you will play a crucial role in the payroll processes in Denmark as well as provide support to our European affiliates. You will be responsible for collecting, validating, and preparing all payroll relevant data for our external payroll provider. You will act as the key point of contact for payroll related queries, ensuring a smooth, timely, and compliant payroll process for our employees. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with cross-functional, global teams working together to achieve extraordinary results. You will be joining the HR Operations team and report directly to Rikke Grøndahl Hansen, Director of HR Operations Europe who is based in Hellerup.

You will also be based in Hellerup.   

Your key responsibilities will be:


  • Gather, validate, and consolidate monthly payroll input, including changes in employment data, absences, variable pay, and other relevant updates.  
  • Support the reconciliation of payroll output, including checks on salary, tax, benefits, and statutory reporting.  
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in payroll processes, documentation, and data quality. 
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance and our external payroll provider to ensure a seamless end-to-end payroll process.  
  • Oversee payroll processes for our European affiliates in collaboration with local payroll providers.  
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance across countries by monitoring local provider's output, identifying discrepancies, and following up on corrections as needed. 
  • Prepare and analyze payroll reports, providing insights to management as needed. 
  • Support year-end payroll activities. 

Qualifications and Skills:


You hold a relevant academic degree and have +5 years of experience from a similar position where you have been working independently with all payroll related processes.  Given the requirement to communicate with Danish authorities, proficiency in spoken and written Danish is essential. Furthermore, you have: 

  • Strong understanding of employment data flows and payroll related administration. 
  • High attention to detail and a structured way of working 
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, service-minded approach. 
  • Excel skills and know your way around ERP-systems and HRIS 
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work with sensitive information in a confidential and structured manner.

You are a strong team player, analytical, and have a can-do attitude.  You possess an entrepreneurial mindset and can thrive in an informal, open environment where innovation and change are key.    To succeed in this role, we expect you to be comfortable being the SME and take ownership of the end-to-end payroll processes. Travel: 0-5 days per year
