Position Overview


The Director of Operations drives the operational systems and execution required for the firm to run with clarity, discipline, and alignment. In this role, the Director shapes and steers McChrystal Group’s operating model by translating strategy into execution, advising the Management Team on priorities, and managing the firm’s operating rhythm. The Director of Operations also builds enterprise-wide performance visibility, advances technology‑enabled workflows, and strengthens cross-functional collaboration. They carry accountability for the overall health, discipline, and effectiveness of the firm’s operating environment. 

Responsibilities


  • Strategy Execution & Alignment
  • Translate McChrystal Group strategy into actionable, enterprise-level initiatives with clear milestones, accountability, and resourcing. 
  • Shape organizational prioritization by advising senior leaders on risks, tradeoffs, and operational impacts. 
  • Partner closely with the Management Team to maintain clarity, alignment, and follow-through. 
  • Operating Rhythm & Process Ownership
  • Own and continuously refine McChrystal Group’s operating cadence (ROPR, KSFs, MBRs), to drive speed, accountability, and transparency. 
  • Establish clear expectations, standards, and accountability for how teams engage in the operating rhythm.
  • Ensure consistent follow-through on decisions, actions, and enterprise initiatives. 
  • Performance Visibility & Analytics
  • Build and maintain enterprise dashboards focused on decision-driving metrics. 
  • Synthesize insights to inform Management Team decisions and drive firm-wide action. 
  • Provide timely visibility into company performance trends, risks, constraints, and opportunities. 
  • Leverage AI tools to improve forecasting, automate reporting, and enhance insight generation. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Relationship Building
  • Serve as connective tissue across HR, Finance, IT, Growth, and client-facing teams. 
  • Strengthen cross-functional partnerships through clarity, accountability, and trust. 
  • Problem Solving, Systems Thinking & Operational Improvement
  • Diagnose root causes of organizational challenges using structured, analytical, and data-driven approaches. 
  • Design and implement practical solutions that improve efficiency, quality, and execution discipline. 
  • Leadership & Capability Building
  • Model healthy team dynamics, communication, and collaboration. 
  • Build organizational capability through process clarity, training, coaching, and shared best practices. 
  • Critical Initiative Leadership
  • Lead high-impact initiatives with firm-wide implications, complex stakeholder dynamics, or significant operational risk. 
  • Provide strong program management, clarity of ownership, and disciplined progress tracking. 
  • Support major organizational transitions or change efforts through intentional integration and alignment. 

Qualifications


  • Experience
  • 10+ years in operations, strategy execution, or cross-functional leadership roles. 
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, enterprise-level initiatives and partnering with senior executives. 
  • Experience establishing and leading enterprise-level operating disciplines that drive execution, visibility, and accountability. 
  • Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability. 
  • Proficiency with AI tools, workflow automation, and modern operational technologies. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and executive-level communication and presentation skills. 
  • Strong project and program management. 
  • Working Conditions
  • This role is based in-office at McChrystal Group headquarters. 
  • Consistent on-site presence is required to enable effective collaboration, leadership engagement, and disciplined execution of the firm’s operating model. 
  • The role may require extended hours during periods of high operational tempo (e.g., major initiatives, client events, firm-wide meetings).
