Title: Senior Project


Director (Milan)


The Senior Project Director overseesdata center projects or programs at € 1-5 bln CaPex, with first tranche deliveries within 15 months after construction start. You will directly shape the future of EdgeConneX’s European and more specifically Italian footprint, influencing relationships and the expansion of our largest customers.The Senior Project Director ensures this by building a high performing team with other EdgeConneX departments and partners. To successfully deliver these large-scale, time-constrained projects, the Senior Project Director will be responsible for project delivery and process improvement initiatives.

At the same time, both EdgeConneX and our customers are looking for new data center capacity. Your (customer) relationships and market knowledge will drive our market development team in establishing new data center developments. Finally, the Senior Project Director drives issues to close themselves.This position reports to the Vice President of Project Management Organization (PMO) EMEA and the position 

will be based in Milan.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Deliver multi-billion-euro data center projects on time, on budget and on quality all the time by:
  • Delivering high-quality accurate and transparent updates
  • Driving schedule improvements to ensure reliable and predictable dates
  • Providing (executive) leadership and our customers with project insights and risks
  • Effectively managing risks, ensuring there is always a Plan B in place
  • Delivering high quality reports conveying project progress to supporting teams
  • Building a high performing team between EdgeConneX and partner teams in delivering the project
  • Develop a network throughout EdgeConneX, authorities, customers and external partners to effectively manage the projects and associated challenges
  • Continuous drive for improving processes and challenging the status quo
  • Team up with the VP of Italy to communicate with critical project stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to quickly leverage new insights from new applications and our PMIS system
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, globally diverse, rapidly scaling company
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal English and Italian
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and projects
  • Ability to meet committed timelines

Experience/Education


  • 10+ years data center project management experience or relevant experience in large scale customer facing energy infrastructure, pharmacy or petro-chemical construction projects
  • Projects in excess of € 500 million
  • Individual data center projects of 50MW+
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management or related field with equivalent experience
  • A combination of 2 project / construction management-related certifications such as AC, ACP CPC, CST, FE, PE, or PMP is required within 24 months following job start
  • OSHA 30 safety certification is required to be completed within 3 months following job start
