The MPP Loan Performance Lead is responsible for the oversight of the servicing of loans in the MPP portfolio. This includes performing loan tracking and providing guidance, as needed, to members and servicers. Work directly with servicers and members to manage delinquency, loan modification and foreclosure processes, ensuring compliance with Bank standards and timely resolution of issues. Perform data-driven analysis of portfolio composition and performance, including trend monitoring, risk assessment and the development of actionable insights to inform decision-making.

Support the design and implementation of more robust, technology-driven processes that reduce manual efforts, reduce operational risk and improve efficiency. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate across internal teams and external partners.The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by persons assigned to the job. Specific Responsibilities


:


Servicing Oversight and Loss Mitigation


  • Provide guidance to servicers to ensure they are meeting the Bank’s expectations, including both current and defaulted loans, foreclosure, property preservation and property liquidation actions.

  • Manage loan delinquency process, including review, monitoring and reporting; gather monthly loan status information from servicers for defaulted loans.

  • Lead efforts related to the tracking of foreclosed loans and represent the Bank’s interest through the property marketing process.

  • Perform initial loss mitigation reviews and provide proposed decisions to management for additional review.

  • Review loss claims submitted by the SMI companies and/or the servicers. Gather information to reconcile the claims and provide settlement recommendations to management. Process the approved claims for final resolution while maintaining and tracking the Bank’s exposure list.

  • Work directly with servicers and management for the review and processing of loan and collateral adjustments, including loan modifications, P&I recasts, releases of liability and partial releases of lien.

Portfolio Data Analytics (Composition & Performance)


  • Portfolio segmentation and vintage analysis
  • Design and maintain segmentation frameworks (e.g., product, credit tier, geography, member institutions, vintage) to analyze risk concentration, credit migration and performance cohorts over time. Recommend actionable strategies for management.

  • Trend and performance analytics
  • Develop, measure and monitor KPIs such as delinquency and cure rates, prepayment speeds, etc.
  • Develop analytics to support appropriate oversight and review of the performance of servicers.
  • Produce variance and driver analyses to explain changes in performance.

  • Benchmarking
  • Compare portfolio metrics and performance to industry benchmarks and internal historical baselines. Provide actionable insights to management based on variance analysis.

Data Engineering, Quality and Governance


  • Clean, transform, and analyze large datasets from sources such as SQL, Oracle, and Dynamics 365.

  • Establish automated data-quality checks to ensure data quality.

Visualization and Reporting


  • Design and maintain interactive dashboards that provide drill-downs into portfolio composition, delinquency, prepayment trends, cohort/vintage performance, etc.

  • Translate analytical findings into concise narratives and visuals for management, Bank committees, second and third line review. Deliver periodic portfolio performance to management and Bank committees.

  • Perform data validation and troubleshoot existing reports and processes to improve accuracy, timeliness and usability.

Automation


  • Explore and implement machine-learning techniques where appropriate and within the policies and accepted practices of the Bank to enhance data analytics and operational efficiency.

  • Automate recurring analytics and reporting processes (e.g. data refreshes, KPI threshold alerts) to reduce manual effort and operational risk.

Collaboration and Best Practices


  • Collaborate with team members and business units to gather requirements, prioritize analytics use cases and deliver impactful visualizations and models.

  • Document processes, tools, assumptions and controls.

  • Contribute to the establishment and continuous improvement of best practices across functional area.

  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Position Requirements


:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or other related field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in the mortgage or banking industry; preferably in mortgage servicing and/or data analytics
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with strict attention to detail. Ability to interact with other Bank personnel, FHLBI members, and counterparty representatives.
  • Knowledge and ability to use computer tools in analysis of financial data. Specifically, knowledge with products such as Word, Excel, Access, Power BI, SQL, Oracle, and Dynamics 365. Ability to learn the in-house Loan Acquisition System and database, LRA Management and other software programs, as necessary.
  • Must not have been convicted of any civil or criminal charge that would suggest a risk to Bank security.
  • Ability to work full-time.
  • Ability to uphold and model the Bank’s Guiding Principles.

Hiring Range: $113,000-133,000Hiring ranges reflect the base salary that the Bank reasonably expects to pay for a given role and is not inclusive of annual incentive award opportunities, retirement benefits or the value of other health and welfare or other ancillary benefits. We consider many factors when determining base salaries such as individual background and experience, the competitive environment, education, particular skill set(s), and industry and institutional knowledge.
