The Quality Manager leads quality assurance and control activities within a manufacturing environment, ensuring that large-scale components, assemblies, and fabricated products meet stringent customer, safety, and regulatory requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who understands the demands of industrial production in sectors such as energy, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), and nuclear — where traceability, documentation rigor, and compliance expectations are exceptionally high.Requirements
- Serve as the highest quality authority within the facility.
- Own and maintain all facility quality certifications (ISO, ASME, AISC, Texas IHB), ensuring continuous audit readiness.
- Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the facility Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with corporate standards.
- Communicate quality strategy, objectives, and expectations to employees and customers.
- Lead internal, external, and customer audits and ensure effective document control.
- Oversee all inspection and verification activities, ensuring compliance with approved procedures and specifications.
- Manage inspection resources based on production needs, risk, and customer requirements.
- Monitor, report, and improve key quality KPIs, including Cost of Quality, NCRs, CARs, and PARs.
- Ensure timely root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Act as the primary quality liaison and escalation point for customers.
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Project Management to embed quality into execution.
- Lead, develop, and mentor quality personnel while promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Minimum 8 years of leadership experience managing inspectors, quality engineers, and audit resources.
- Proven experience managing facility-level QMS, external certification audits (ISO, API, ASME), and customer interfaces.
- Strong working knowledge of Quality Management Systems and hands-on experience with NCR, CAR, PAR, and SCAR processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage Cost of Quality and drive KPI-based performance improvement.
- Expertise in root cause analysis and problem solving (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, A3).
- Experience working directly with customers and certification bodies; Lead Auditor certification (ISO 9001, API Q1, or equivalent) preferred.
- Proficiency in risk-based thinking, including tools such as PFMEA.
- Strong communicator capable of de-escalating customer issues and presenting data-driven solutions to leadership.
- Ability to translate corporate quality strategy into effective shop-floor execution.
- Proven leadership in developing teams and fostering a “Quality at the Source” culture.
- Track record of sustained certification compliance, year-over-year CoQ reduction, timely closure of NCRs/CARs/PARs, and improved customer satisfaction.
Required Experience & Education
- 8-12+ years of progressive experience in Quality Management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Preferred experience in O&G equipment, EPC, or Nuclear industries.
- Experience in heavy fabrication, HazLoc assemblies, and / or custom project-based companies a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing), Quality Assurance, or a related technical field (required).
- Preferred Quality certifications such as ASQ - MQ/OE, CQE; SSGB, SSBB.
- Experience in facilitation practices (Meeting, Group, or Workshop). Must be able to acquire a TWIC when required.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk.
- Continuously requires vision, hearing, twisting, and talking.
- Occasionally requires walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling bending, and crouching.
- Some lifting (up to 30 lbs.). Long hours on computer keyboard.
