Victory Income Investors (VINC) is an investment franchise of Victory Capital and focuses on active management of a diverse suite of fixed income portfolios.  Strategies include taxable and tax-exempt, corporate and structured fixed income, and core to longer duration funds.  VINC subscribes to a yield-focused, team-oriented approach to managing its portfolios in which analysis begins with the issuer’s fundamentals.

General Summary and Purpose:


VINC is seeking a Fixed Income Research Analyst with demonstrated experience in the oil and gas sector.The successful candidate will contribute to the success of the team by conducting fundamental investment research and analysis on individual corporate bond and leveraged loan issuers initially in the oil and gas energy space, though coverage may expand to other industries depending on VINC needs and opportunities. The successful candidate will cover the entire credit spectrum for assigned industries, meaning issuers in Investment Grade, High Yield, and Leveraged Loan asset classes.Because the analyst will work closely with other research analysts, portfolio managers and traders to lead the development of sector and credit investment views and opportunities, this opportunity will be in-office in San Antonio, Texas.

You will report to the Head of Fixed Income Research.

You Will:


  • Contribute to the success of the fixed income team by conducting fundamental investment research and analysis on individual corporate bond and leveraged loan issuers.
  • Recommend investment ideas within a relative and absolute value framework, factoring in expected risk-adjusted returns between companies in the same industry.
  • Write credit reports based on research with buy/sell/hold recommendations, build and maintain company financial models to support investment theses.
  • Analyze financial results and perform valuation analysis.
  • Interact with external research analysts, credit rating agencies, and other independent sources to obtain external views on individual industries and issuers.

You Have:


  • A minimum of 3 – 4 years of demonstrated analytic experience in the oil and gas sector (required)
  • A strong sense of curiosity and are a self-starter Familiarity with fixed income instruments and their valuation
  • An undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, or engineering preferred
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to examine financial statements, macro factors and security/bond covenants and indentures
  • The demonstrated ability to quickly assess financial data and generate investment recommendations
  • Skills to synthesize information from a wide range of sources and convey it cogently to the broader fixed income team
  • Capability of financial modeling, writing and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated you are adept at working in a highly collaborative environment
  • Comfort working with Microsoft suite of products such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Demonstrated progress towards CFA a plus
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg a plus

Target Compensation:
