Summary
The Warehouse Lead oversees daily warehouse and delivery operations for our multi-material flooring business. This role is hands-on and is responsible for ensuring flooring products—such as hardwood, vinyl, tile, carpet, underlayment, and trim—are accurately received, stored, staged, and delivered. The Warehouse Lead also plays a key role in representing the company professionally and courteously during deliveries to job sites and customers.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Completes daily warehouse activities including receiving, staging, picking, loading, and organization of all flooring materials
- Handle multiple flooring materials with proper care to prevent damage
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse layout
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and delivery vehicles as needed
- Perform regular inventory counts and assist with inventory tracking
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or incorrect materials promptly
Delivery & Customer Interaction
- Coordinate and complete deliveries to job sites, installers, and customers
- Ensure delivery trucks are loaded accurately, safely, and efficiently
- Verify orders with customers or site contacts upon delivery
- Provide professional, courteous, and solution-oriented service during deliveries
- Communicate delivery issues, delays, or material shortages to the office promptly
- Serve as a positive company representative with customers, contractors, and vendors
- Coordinate closely with sales staff, and installers to ensure job readiness
- Assist in resolving job site or delivery-related issues quickly and professionally
Shipping, Receiving & Documentation
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments against purchase orders
- Prepare outgoing orders and delivery paperwork (packing slips, delivery tickets, job labels)
- Ensure accurate documentation for deliveries and customer pickups
- Track returned materials and assist with restocking
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce warehouse and delivery safety procedures
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company policies
- Promote safe driving, loading, and unloading practices
- Identify hazards and help maintain a safe work environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of warehouse experience in flooring, construction, or building materials
- Experience handling multiple flooring materials preferred
- Prior lead, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain)
- Basic computer skills for inventory and communication
