This individual provides both leadership and hands-on analytical expertise to advance UE’s use of data in decision-making. This role manages a team of data analysts while directly contributing to complex analytical projects. In addition, the Manager of Data Science partners closely with the Senior Director to execute on enterprise priorities, deliver actionable insights, and ensure best practices in data management, reporting, and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coach a team of data analysts and data scientists, ensuring high-quality work and professional growth.
- Oversee workload allocation, project prioritization, and performance management.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning within the data science team.
- Conduct advanced analyses in support of the actuarial, underwriting, and resolutions business functions, including data wrangling, statistical modeling, and visualization.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and other analytical tools to support decision-making.
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Data Science to align analyst team projects with the enterprise data strategy.
- Collaborate with actuarial, underwriting, resolutions, finance, and IT teams to deliver cross-functional data solutions.
- Serve as a liaison between business users and technical teams, ensuring effective communication and alignment.
- Establish standards and processes for data analysis, reporting, and visualization to ensure consistency and quality.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows and improve data quality.
- Contribute to the adoption of new tools and techniques in analytics, including staying abreast of updates in the gen AI/analytics space.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in data science, mathematics, statistics, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or applied analytics, with at least 1-2 years of leadership or mentorship experience. Insurance experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in MS Office products, especially Excel
- Familiarity with statistical or programming languages (R, Python) preferred
- Strong skills in data analysis and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI)
- Strong understanding of predictive analytics and willingness to expand skillset
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality results
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

The below annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.Salary Range$140,000—$180,000 USD
