MetaPhase Consulting is seeking an experienced Cloud System Architect to support a large-scale enterprise modernization initiative. The ideal candidate is a senior technical leader with deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, scalable microservices design, and hands-on development in modern environments. This individual will guide solution architecture, lead development teams, and routinely interface with Government leadership and stakeholders. This role requires a self-starter with exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable plans.

A Top Secret clearance is required for this position.

What You Will Be Doing: 


  • Architect, design, and oversee implementation of scalable, secure microservices-based solutions in support of enterprise modernization efforts.
  • Lead and mentor development teams, ensuring delivery quality, adherence to architectural standards, and alignment with program objectives.
  • Implement robust security controls and best practices within microservices architectures, including identity management, data protection, and secure APIs.
  • Engage with Government stakeholders, providing technical briefings, architectural presentations, and solution recommendations.
  • Evaluate and integrate modern technologies in cloud computing, container orchestration, and distributed systems.
  • Develop and maintain architectural artifacts, roadmaps, interface definitions, and technical documentation.
  • Guide teams in the adoption of DevSecOps practices, automation, CI/CD, and cloud-native deployment models.
  • Support planning and execution of complex modernization strategies involving legacy system transformation, data migration, and cloud scalability. 

What We Need From You (Required):  


  • Active Top Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Demonstrated experience architecting and implementing microservices at enterprise scale.
  • Hands-on development experience with C#, Java, and Python.
  • Expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating solutions in AWS cloud environments.
  • Extensive experience supporting large-scale software modernization programs.
  • Strong understanding of microservices best practices, API design, distributed systems, and resiliency patterns.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with multi-disciplinary technical teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior Government stakeholders.

Bonus Points (Preferred):  


  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
  • Experience implementing DevSecOps pipelines and cloud automation.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures, service meshes, or zero-trust frameworks.
  • Experience supporting Federal IT programs and navigating Government technical governance processes.

Work Setup:  


  • Onsite in Washington, DC.

Clearance & Education: 


  • Must have an active Top Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Compensation: 


  • Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $190k-$230k.
