Job Summary


The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, inspection, and shipment of inventory while maintaining reliable inventory records and supporting operational efficiency. This role coordinates inbound and outbound material flow, performs inventory control activities, and upholds quality and safety standards across warehouse operations. The position requires strong attention to detail, system accuracy, and cross-functional communication.

Key Responsibilities


Shipping & Receiving

  • Coordinate and process incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Route received materials to the appropriate departments or personnel.
  • Verify shipments against documentation and report discrepancies.
  • Prepare shipping documentation and support carrier coordination as required.
  • Ensure materials are handled, stored, and staged properly.

Inventory Control

  • Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP, WMS, or inventory management systems.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in full physical inventories.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track inventory movements, transfers, and adjustments across locations.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining inventory control procedures.

Quality Control

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of incoming, stored, and outgoing inventory using tools such as micrometers, calipers, and tape measures.
  • Identify non-conforming material and communicate quality concerns with urgency.
  • Maintain calibration and proper use of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy and quality compliance.

Systems, Reporting & Communication

  • Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and internal systems to track, communicate, and report inventory and shipping activity.
  • Create and run reports as required.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Support adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1–3 years of experience in shipping/receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related field.
  • Forklift Certification required.
  • Experience using ERP platforms (CSD experience an asset but not required).
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable seeking guidance on non-routine issues and following established procedures.

Physical Demands & Work Environment


  • Combination of office and warehouse environments.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands/fingers.
  • Regular lifting, pushing, or carrying items (typically 25–50 lbs).
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, or climbing.
  • Exposure to warehouse conditions including noise, dust, and non-climate-controlled areas.
  • PPE may be required (e.g., steel-toe boots, safety vest, gloves).
  • Forklift certification required.
