About the Position:


The temporary Process Automation Engineer position for projects under the JETS II contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. This is a temporary position not to exceed 26 weeks.

Responsibilities:


  • Review existing processes within the Crew and Thermal Systems Division, Systems Test Branch, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Update, maintain, and enhance software applications to improve operational efficiency.
  • Design, create, and upgrade Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens to enhance usability and overall user experience.
  • Utilize AI/ML tools and methodologies to support scalable document control, configuration management, and system identification.
  • Perform system checkouts, procurements, testing, maintenance activities, and develop supporting technical documentation.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications


  •  Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, with relevant experience.
  • Computer programming experience.
  • Experience working with SQL databases and SQL Server.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and their applications.
  •  Working knowledge of SCADA systems such as ICONICS and Ignition.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated programming software.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and standard software tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  •  Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

Requisition Preferences: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, with relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated computer programming experience.
  • Experience working with SQL databases.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and their practical applications.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  •  Strong organizational and time-management skills.
