About the Position:

The temporary Process Automation Engineer position for projects under the JETS II contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center. This is a temporary position not to exceed 26 weeks.

Responsibilities:

Review existing processes within the Crew and Thermal Systems Division, Systems Test Branch, and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
Update, maintain, and enhance software applications to improve operational efficiency.
Design, create, and upgrade Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens to enhance usability and overall user experience.
Utilize AI/ML tools and methodologies to support scalable document control, configuration management, and system identification.
Perform system checkouts, procurements, testing, maintenance activities, and develop supporting technical documentation.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, with relevant experience.
Computer programming experience.
Experience working with SQL databases and SQL Server.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
Experience with data acquisition systems and their applications.
Working knowledge of SCADA systems such as ICONICS and Ignition.
Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated programming software.
Proficiency in the use of computers and standard software tools.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.

Requisition Preferences:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, with relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated computer programming experience.
Experience working with SQL databases.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and instrumentation system procedures.
Experience with data acquisition systems and their practical applications.
Strong computer proficiency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
