We are looking for a Senior Accountant for our Coconut Grove office.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations for a real estate brokerage, ensuring accurate financial reporting, proper commission accounting, and compliance with regulatory and company policies. This role partners closely with operations, agent services, and leadership to support timely closes, commission payouts, and month-end reporting.

Key Responsibilities


General Ledger & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Perform month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Commission & Agent Accounting

  • Calculate, review, and process agent commissions, splits, and referral fees
  • Reconcile commission payable accounts and ensure timely payouts
  • Review transaction files for proper revenue recognition and fee allocation
  • Partner with agent services to resolve commission discrepancies

Cash Management

  • Reconcile all bank accounts
  • Monitor cash flows and assist with cash forecasting

Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight

  • Review AP coding and approvals; ensure proper expense allocation
  • Oversee AR billing, collections, and write-offs
  • Maintain vendor records and ensure timely payments

Qualifications


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or brokerage environments
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close processes
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)

Preferred

  • CPA or CPA-eligible
  • Experience in multi-office brokerages
  • Experience with Yardi
