The main purpose of the role is to act as a custodian for the company’s fixed assets by ensuring that standard accounting practices are followed to record and keep track of all transactions relating to Barloworld Equipment’s fixed assets.
This role will add value to the Shared Services division and the individual will focus on the following Key Performance IndicatorsTo ensure good corporate governance, in terms of internal control implementation and ensuring operating effectiveness of controlsTo provide accurate financial information to the businessMaintain the fixed asset registerRun depreciationPrepare Asset ReconsProvide the asset information required by head office for the purpose of completing the audit packAssist in the creation/release of asset purchase requisitionsAttend to asset queriesAssist with costs/depreciation values for the preparation of budgetDispose and Transfer assets when requiredManage the verification of assets by the businessAnalyse the nature of costs related to assets under constructionCreate internal orders and assets under constructionAcquire asset under construction when projects are finalizedLog and manage calls with SAP Team for asset queriesFollow up on asset projects that are under constructionPull asset report required by the businessCalculate the monthly warranty provisionsPrepare the recons for the warranty provisionWeekly clearing of warranty suspense accountsFollow up with the warranty team on outstanding itemsAttend to internal/external audit requests· Responsible for the review and releasing of supplier payments· Attending to ad-hoc requests from the Finance Managers and the business
Qualification, Experience and Competencies
Minimum Required Qualification:
MatricFormal accounting qualification would be an advantage
Minimum Required Experience:
At least five years’ experience in an accounting environmentGood people management skillsBusiness development skills and knowledge sound business and financial acumenExposure to business planning and budgeting processesSound business communication skills Sound MS Office knowledgeSound SAP knowledge
