We’re looking for a hands-on CMS Administrator to own day-to-day operations, governance, and continuous improvement of our Optimizely (formerly Episerver) CMS. You’ll manage users/roles, workflows, and publishing quality at scale across a large portfolio of branded sites and subdomains, partnering closely with Web Experience, Product Development, IT, and Account Operations. You’ll be the go-to expert for content editors, ensuring sites are performing operationally, on-brand, accessible, and optimized for internal use, and personalization.
Responsibilities:
Platform administration & governance
- Own user/role administration, access rights, and editorial permissions; implement best practices and system configurations to speed up team productivity.
- Configure and maintain content approvals and publishing workflows (including multi-language approvals) to safeguard quality at scale.
- Monitor and tune scheduled jobs (e.g., link validation, content version cleanup) and coordinate with engineering on custom jobs.
- Manage GoTo blocks, document editing and troubleshooting steps
- Manage site/language settings, categories, and content types/blocks in line with design standards and governance.
Content operations & quality
- Establish and enforce taxonomy, tagging, and SEO settings (titles, descriptions, canonicals, indexing rules) directly in Optimizely’s admin options to maximize discoverability.
- Guide editors on using blocks, templates, and content areas; evolve reusable components with Product Development to reduce complexity.
- Drive publishing cadence & SLAs for promotions, landing pages, and partner updates; orchestrate scheduled publishing for time-sensitive campaigns.
- Maintain a content QA checklist (links, accessibility, mobile responsiveness, performance) and coordinate fixes with devs as needed.
- Work closely with the Web Experience team to improve workflows and remove barriers to campaign launches.
Personalization, experimentation & integrations
- Partner with Marketing Ops and WebEx to ensure pages/blocks are personalization-ready (audiences, attributes, placement rules).
- Coordinate with data teams on Tealium (and other tools) to align segments and events with CMS experiences; support hybrid approaches where needed.
- Document and govern custom snippets usage (where allowed) to safely enable light presentation logic without dev releases.
Training, enablement & support
- Build and maintain editor training (guides, short videos, office hours) and run onboarding for new team members.
- Serve as Tier-2 support for CMS issues; triage with Product Dev/IT for escalations; maintain an admin runbook and change log.
Security, compliance & quality controls
- Enforce acceptable use, access, and information security policies within the CMS (account ownership, non-shared admin credentials, auditability).
- Coordinate periodic audits of permissions, content approvals, and environment parity across brands/sites.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years administering Optimizely/Episerver or a comparable enterprise CMS (governance, workflows, roles/permissions, scheduled jobs, multi-site/multi-language).
- Strong operational knowledge of blocks, templates, content areas, and editor enablement.
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and hands-on experience with CMS-level SEO/admin settings.
- Experience coordinating with Web/Prod Dev and IT teams in a .NET/Optimizely stack.
- Familiarity with personalization/experimentation concepts and readiness (audiences, variants, targeting).
- Comfort with tagging/CDP tools (e.g., Tealium) and how data flows inform content targeting.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Marketo or similar marketing automation and how CMS pages support lifecycle programs.
- Basic front-end proficiency (HTML/CSS/JS) for light troubleshooting and QA.
- Experience administering multi-brand portfolios (high site/domain counts, partner-specific content).
Tools you'll use
- Optimizely CMS (Episerver) Admin: Users/Roles, Approvals, Scheduled Jobs, Languages, Site Settings.
- Optimizely Experimentation & Personalization (in partnership with Marketing & WebEx).
- Tealium (data layer, segments) and analytics tooling.
- Personyze and other personalization tools.
