Solar Engineering Manager:
Renewable Properties is seeking a talented Solar Engineering Manager to play a key role in leading technical strategy and engineering projects across our distributed-generation (DG) solar and energy storage project portfolio. This role is central to the full project lifecycle supporting development diligence, steering design through construction, and driving technical excellence across the organization. The ideal candidate is a motivated and seasoned engineering manager with strong organizational skills, is detail oriented, experienced leading design and engineering activities through development, interconnection, permitting, procurement, and construction of solar and energy storage projects, and who is excited to bring innovative thoughts and ideas to their projects.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee preliminary layouts, energy modeling, and conceptual designs (PV system sizing, interconnection voltage selection, equipment selection, etc.)
- Review site constraints using drawings, topographic surveys, shading analysis, and electrical one-lines for accuracy and feasibility
- Support solar and BESS project optimization and value engineering, including layout refinement, loss factors, clipping, degradation, and basic BESS operating concepts that influence project value
- Partner with the development team with technical inputs for permit and interconnection applications
- Evaluate site constraints (shading, slope, access, interconnection feasibility)
- Serve as engineering point of contact for EPC partners and field teams and respond to RFIs with clarity and speed
- Conduct comprehensive QA/QC of preliminary designs and plan sets to ensure design consistency, constructability, and code compliance
- Coordinate between engineering consultants, EPCs, and internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate as-built documentation, open items lists, and change tracking. Develop and lead the use of standardized templates and review checklists
- Collaborate with Project Managers throughout pre-construction and construction activities, proactively manage the flow of technical information and deliverables to minimize last‑minute issues
- Evaluate acquisition opportunities by reviewing project data rooms, drawings, and technical reports
- Identify engineering risks, design gaps, or cost implications during due diligence reviews
- Assist in energy model validation and yield assessment for prospective projects, be able to prepare concise summaries and provide guidance for internal stakeholders
- Contribute to building tools and workflows that improve process efficiency, data consistency, and information flow between teams
- Engage electrical engineers and other subject matter expects as needed. Manage and coordinate engineering subcontractors and external engineering providers: define scopes, track schedules and deliverables, and ensure comments and revisions are clearly captured and closed.
- Support Project Development and Project Finance teams in developing construction cost estimates.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of engineering or project engineering experience, preferably in solar PV, distributed energy, power plants, or similar infrastructure sectors
- Demonstrated success leading engineering through development and construction activities
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or related technical field (Master’s is a plus).
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, personal responsibility/ownership, and communication skills
- Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical design principles
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and PV modeling software (Helioscope, PVSyst, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across a distributed team environment
- Energy, real estate, engineering, or business related Master’s degree is a plus
- Demonstrated experience with PVsyst or equivalent tools, including configuration, use of irradiance data, loss modeling, weather datasets, uncertainty analysis, and the ability to communicate results to non‑technical stakeholders.
