VP, Data Analytics

CompanyForeFlight
LocationAustin, Texas, United States
TypeOnsite
Jeppesen ForeFlight is seeking a VP, Data & Analytics to own our enterprise data capability and deliver the financial intelligence that drives executive decision-making. This leader will bridge the gap between advanced analytics and corporate finance—translating complex data into forecasts, KPIs, and strategic insights that the CFO, Chief Customer Officer, and broader Executive Team rely on daily. A core mandate is building investor-grade analytics infrastructure: ARR reporting, subscription metrics, and financial data schemas that meet the rigor expected of PE-backed and public company environments. Beyond core analytics, this role will serve as the internal champion for AI adoption—identifying high-impact use cases for generative AI and large language models across Finance, Customer Success, and Operations, and establishing the governance frameworks to deploy them responsibly.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on technical depth with business acumen honed in finance, valuation, or FP&A-adjacent roles. We value builders who've operated in data-intensive, highly regulated environments and understand that great data infrastructure exists to serve business outcomes—not the other way around.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the CFO, Chief Customer Officer, and Executive Team to define, standardize, and govern critical financial and operational KPIs
  • Architect ARR analytics programs and data schemas that support investor reporting, board materials, and audit requirements at PE and public company standards
  • Lead delivery of forecasting models and analytical frameworks that support FP&A, including revenue forecasting, expense management, and scenario planning
  • Quantify ROI on strategic initiatives, product adoption, and retention efforts
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities through rigorous internal data analysis
  • Own the strategic roadmap for the data platform (cloud data warehouse, pipelines, BI tooling), prioritizing auditability, reliability, and speed-to-insight
  • Build and maintain subscription metrics infrastructure (ARR, churn, cohort analysis, LTV/CAC) with full auditability and version control
  • Architect data foundations that enable predictive modeling and ML initiatives
  • Establish data quality protocols and governance standards that meet the rigor required for financial reporting
  • Serve as the enterprise owner for internal AI adoption—evaluating, piloting, and scaling generative AI and LLM use cases across Finance, Customer Success, and Operations
  • Provide thought leadership on emerging AI capabilities, translating technical possibilities into practical business applications with measurable ROI
  • Establish governance frameworks for responsible AI use, including data privacy, model validation, and risk management protocols
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team spanning Data Engineering, Analytics, and Business Intelligence
  • Cultivate a data-literate culture through internal enablement and cross-functional knowledge sharing
  • Serve as the executive voice for data integrity, communicating technical trade-offs as business risks and opportunities
  • Manage the function's operating budget with a focus on efficiency and measurable value delivery

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Science, Analytics, Business
  • Intelligence, or a quantitatively rigorous field (e.g., valuation, economic consulting,FP&A)
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with finance and executive leadership on mission-critical reporting, forecasting, or strategic analysis
  • Hands-on expertise with modern data and ML tooling—cloud platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake), SQL, Python and/or R, and pipeline orchestration
  • Experience building or scaling predictive models in a production environment (time series forecasting, classification, or similar)
  • Track record of growing team capability—whether through direct management, technical mentorship, or building internal communities of practice
  • Exceptional communication skills—able to translate technical complexity into business language for senior stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in economic consulting, valuation, or corporate finance (Big 4, boutique advisory, or in-house FP&A)
  • Experience building analytics infrastructure in a PE-backed or public company environment with exposure to investor reporting, board materials, or audit processes
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (healthcare, energy, financial services, or similar) where data governance and auditability are non-negotiable
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI, large language models, or applied NLP in an enterprise context
  • Familiarity with subscription or recurring revenue business models and associated metrics
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field (MS in Analytics, Statistics, Economics) or MBA with analytical focus
  • History of contributing to technical communities—publishing, open-source involvement, or internal enablement programs
  • Pilot or aviation enthusiast
