Position Overview
As a Software Quality Engineer with our client, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality web, desktop, and mobile applications. You’ll work closely with product managers and developers to integrate testing and quality practices throughout the software development lifecycle. Their tech stack includes PHP, TypeScript, C#.NET, React/GraphQL, React Native, and AWS. The environment values continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), efficient collaboration, and strong ownership of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage early with Product and Development teams to clarify feature scope, requirements, and design—ensuring quality considerations are embedded from the start (“shift left” approach).
- Create clear, structured manual test plans and test cases covering regression, acceptance, integration, exploratory, edge-case, and ad-hoc testing.
- Perform impact analysis to assess how new features or changes might affect existing functionality.
- Collaborate with developers through pair testing and support integration of exploratory and automated testing practices throughout the development process.
- Maintain, extend, and execute our end-to-end automation framework (in TypeScript), while working closely with developers to identify test coverage gaps and recommend additional unit or integration tests where appropriate.
- Conduct testing across web applications, desktop utilities, and mobile apps (iOS/Android) to ensure consistent behaviour across platforms.
- Troubleshoot issues across different layers of the application stack and coordinate escalations as needed.
- Work flexibly: adapt to fast-moving priorities, handle unplanned testing tasks, and contribute effectively to sprint-based delivery cycles in an Agile / DevOps environment.
Technical & Professional Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of hands-on QA experience covering both manual and automated testing of web applications, desktop software, and integrations with external systems or services.
- Proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript; familiarity with other languages such as PHP, C#.NET, or Python is a strong asset.
- Experience with test automation frameworks such as Cypress, Selenium, WebdriverIO, Playwright, or similar.
- Comfortable working in Linux (or macOS) environments and using the CLI.
- Working knowledge of AWS, including experience using the AWS Console to manage or verify cloud-based resources.
- Familiarity with virtualized or remote Windows environments (e.g., remote desktops, VM setups, EC2 Windows instances).
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and bug/task tracking tools (such as Jira).
- Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership — capable of owning QA from project kickoff through to delivery, estimating testing effort, prioritizing tasks, and aligning with project timelines.
- Proven ability to self-learn, adapt quickly to new tools or tasks, and handle multiple priorities concurrently.
