Job Summary
The Warehouse Expeditor ensures customer orders move quickly and accurately through all stages of the operation. This position coordinates activates across the production floor and cross-functional departments to process, prioritize, and complete orders without delays.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Receives expedited orders from production management to initiate order process. Follows up with each department to ensure timely processing.
- Ensures that all facets of the orders are being processed in a timely basis; jobs to production, purchase orders issued, pick tickets issued.
- Assists in obtaining raw material to expedite order. May also assist in calling vendors or suppliers to expedite material needed to complete order.
- Communicates realistic delivery capabilities to salesperson or customer service on a periodic basis.
- Communicates with production staff on the lineup of rush orders in process.
- Works on obtaining on time delivery for several orders at the same time.
- Works with QC inspectors to ensure inspection and documentation.
- Communicates with shipping staff to ensure proper packing and/or packaging of product.
- Works with hot shot drivers to schedule delivery in accordance with product completion schedules.
- Ensures paperwork and system completion are accurate and thorough.
- Keeps track of all orders for comparison of delivery goals and objectives.
- Assists providing production team members with urgent order requests.
- Ensures rushed or urgent order requests are inspected.
- Coordinates order handoff to the shipping team and ensures timely, accurate shipment to customers.
Skills
- Ability to solve practical problems and operate with a variety of concrete variables.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Basic computer operation (spreadsheets and databases) knowledge of Symix a plus.
- Ability to drive a Forklift.
Education
- Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
Work Experience
- Required: Minimum of one year of employment in an industrial setting performing shipping, production, or inventory duties.
Physical Requirements
- Works continuously with weights from five (5) to sixty (60) pounds.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to maneuver through the production floor.
- Ability to lift, climb, stoop and bend.
- Ability to operate forklift and hold certification.
- Must be able to work in cold, heat and dusty environment; includes occasional work outside in the elements.
- Must have mental capacity to solve complex problems with a highly developed sense of urgency.
