As a Platform Software Engineer, you’ll work on foundational systems including scalable backend services, distributed data pipelines, storage systems, and shared tooling. Your work will directly improve system reliability, performance, and the developer experience across the company. This is a remote position that does not need to be located in Georgia
Your day to day
- Take ownership of the successful implementation and delivery of new features and projects using a variety of languages and frameworks such as Golang, Python, and PostgreSQL
- Build and operate data pipelines and storage systems powering analytics, operational workflows, product capabilities, and supporting our ongoing work to integrate AI into our developer workflow, operations, and product
- Actively participate in system architecture discussions and technical design reviews to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of the Happy Returns system
- Enforce clean code coding standards and excellent coding practices by conducting thoughtful code reviews and upholding a commitment to testing and maintainability
- Learn from senior engineers, contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuously expand your technical and problem-solving skills as you grow into more complex projects
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as Product, Data, and other engineering teams to translate platform their needs into technical solutions
- Support the health and stability of our systems through thoughtful testing monitoring, and debugging
What you need to bring
- 1+ years of experience in backend or systems development
- Experience programming in Go, Python, or another backend language.
- Familiarity with databases and data storage technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
- The ability to efficiently ship clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Comfort using AI tools to scaffold code, explore architecture options, and generate tests.
- A strong interest in joining a highly collaborative environment and working daily with stakeholders across the organization
- You’re curious and adaptable, always ready to explore new technologies, and introduce tools that make the team more effective.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to learn independently and thrive in a fully remote work environment
Bonus points if you have
- Expertise in multiple server-side languages such as Go or Python
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
- Experience with data processing frameworks, ETL/ELT pipelines, or streaming systems.
- Experience building or integrating AI-driven automation or decision-support systems.
- Exposure to performance optimization, distributed systems fundamentals, or event-driven architectures
- Interest in e-commerce, logistics, developer experience, or building tooling for other engineers
